^^^I knew you would like it! Thanks girls! Love you all! Okay, I came up with the next part of this chapter. Hope you are still interested. Balder's (POV) I'd never felt so helpless before, so painfully helpless, and so angry at myself. The one time my brother needs me and I can't help! And it's not because of lack of trying... I did try. I tried everything I could think off and I failed. Now I have to go back to Thor's house and watch him in his misery. I understand him, he can't bear it! It turns my stomach, too! It's all wrong, I can feel it! I turned the corner, almost running into a few Valkyries, and stepped aside. They lightly bowed to me before continuing on their way and I nodded, seeing sadness on their beautiful faces. The line of the legend rose up in my head. Valkyries were picked from the most honorable, most beautiful and most loyal Demigods. It's in their blood, loyalty to Aesirs, to Odin. Astrid is a bit more outspoken then the rest of them, she was with us on to the forbidden realms, but it was just for fun, to escape the boredom of everyday life. She would never do anything against Asgard. It all has to be a mistake. She would never forget her oath to Odin, she loves him like her own father. He's the only God she always talks with the utmost respect. She couldn't have done anything to deserve her fate. She just got in the line of mother's anger at the wrong time and fell victim to her rage, which was directed at our foolish behavior. And now three guys have to sit and helplessly watch a girl get all the punishment, it's not right! Mother overreacted, maybe when she cools off a bit, she will see how wrong it is! I sighed, watching the winged helmets of the Valkyries vanishing from view behind the trees. Mother's words floated in my head. 'She is done, and you are not breaking yet another rule bringing her here. She is no longer of this realm.' I can't believe she's a mortal now... our team will never be the same without her. She was so much fun to be around, I mean just to watch her and my brother get into one of their arguments! She was the only one whose opinion Thor valued, he listens to her. Not to mention she was an awesome huntress! And a good friend... she was a part of out team. Nothing will be the same without her... I sighed again and looked up at Thor's bedroom window. My brother will never be the same without her... My fist hit an innocent door and it opened, letting me into my brother's gloomy asylum. I made my way through his house, and was about to open his bedroom door when Loki appeared by my side. “Did you talk to him yet?” “He won't talk, just keeps telling me to leave him alone... I feel like shit that I can't do anything... I tried to talk to Heimdall, begged him to open the portal, but he just ignored me.” I sighed. “You were trying to do what? You would've lost your powers, then you would've been brought back here for punishment!” Loki sounded irritated and I snapped. “At least I wouldn't be feeling like a complete dickhead! Can't you see how wrong all this is, brother? A girl punished for all of us! I feel horrible, I know what Thor feels. I had to try and do something.” “A stupid sacrifice for nothing wouldn't help anyone. Honestly brother, sometimes I think I'm the only one with a working brain.” Loki's eyes smiled at me, and I felt a hope rising up inside of me. “Tell me you have a plan.” “I do.” He turned, hiding his wicked smile, and reached for the door. “Let's go inside first, you never know who is listeni-- Aaaaah! What the fuck?!” Loki yanked his hand off the door handle and the smell of burnt flesh hit my nose. A woman's voice, distorted with hatred, came from behind the massive door and I kicked it open, running into the burning bedroom. What I saw made me jump between the crazed Goddess of Sun and my brother, shielding him from her burning rays. “How dare you attack my brother!” Loki grabbed Sol's arms, twisting them behind the Goddess, unrecognizable in her anger. “Thor may be powerless against you right now, but trust me, I wouldn't hesitate to drown your ass in the frozen lake of Niflheim for this!” She turned her reddened face to him, releasing steam from her nostrils. “You wouldn't dare! All the worlds would die without me, all of you will forever dwell in darkness!” She ripped her hands out of Loki's grip and glared at the burnt Thor. “Anyway, I got my revenge for now, I have nothing more to say here.” She turned on her heels and stormed out of the door, leaving scorch marks on the marble floor. Thor dropped to his knees and I rushed to help him up. “Fucking bitch! What happened?” “Balder... she's... it's all my fault!” He gripped to my arm and I winced, feeling something burning through my shirt. “Aaaah!! Hot! What are you talking about? And what the fuck is in your hand?” I pulled my arm away and saw dark red broken spearhead falling out of my brother's blistered hand. “Shit, you're hurt! It's okay, it's not that bad, it will heal in a few minutes.. come sit... Fucking bitch burned the whole room! Loki can you fix this mess? Come on, Thor, walk with me...” “Balder... she's...” My brother's eyes, full of pain, stopped on mine and he swallowed. “I should've stopped her, I should've known... and now she's... burned... she's dead...” “What? Who's dead? What are you talking about?” I pulled him with me, but I stepped on something on the floor and bent down, picking up the broken spearhead. The edges were covered in something that looked like rust and eroded, my finger touched blackened engraving of valknut. Astrid's spear...Thor's words had finally sunk in. He ripped it out of my hand and hid it in his tightened fist. His fingers turned white and I understood why the edges were corroded. Valkyrie's arms were cast with a secret enchantment, it was made to protect Odin, his blood could never be washed off their weapons it would eat into the metal, destroying it. Odin's blood... part of it in Thor's veins, he was squeezing it in his hand and it cut into his skin... “She's...” Thor lifted his head and I saw how my brother changed in these three days. His always smiling eyes were darkened in deep sadness, and despite the burns that were already healing, bringing his skin back to a normal color, the dark circles under his eyes didn't fade. Never in my life had I seen Thor looking this bad, not even when he was wounded by a Svartalfheim's bear and it took him four days to recover. Only now I realized, what that Valkyrie meant to my brother. “Thor... I...” I managed to whisper, but didn't finish my sentence, not finding the right words. “I lost her, Balder...” My brother looked at me before lowering his head, and I could've sworn I saw tears in his eyes. My fingers reached to Thor's fist, pulling the eroded metal out of my brother's hand. I swallowed the growing lump in my throat and pressed the broken spearhead to my brother's hammer pendant, sealing them together with my power of light. Thor closed his hand over it, pressing it to his chest. “She's forever imprisoned in the Hel's realm, and no one, not even father can bring her her back from there...” “No one is dead. The bitch lied to you.” Loki's figure reappeared by us, and he helped me to pull Thor to the chair. “What did you do to piss Sol off like that, anyway?” “She's alive? Are you sure?” Thor rose his head, gripping at Loki's shoulders. “Yes, I'm sure.” He pulled out of Thor's grip. “Spying maybe a dishonest habit, my brothers, but it will get you information faster then face to face confrontation or pointless sacrifice.” He glanced my way and blew in the air, clearing the last smoke out, before closing the window. “Now, pull yourself together, I have a way to get you to Midgard.” “Brother, I won't let you to put yourself in the harm for me an--” Thor shook his head, and Loki rolled his eyes. “Just shut up for a second, okay? As I said, I have a way. That doesn't mean I will be the one doing it. So save all that 'I can't let you' crap. No one will be involved directly. So, are you ready to listen?” Thor nodded and I held my breath, waiting for Loki to reveal his plan. He was always good at planning trouble... lets hope this time his mind works for the good. He looked at both of us and swiped invisible ash off the nearby chair before making himself comfortable in it. He crossed his legs, placing his hands in front of him and connecting tips of his fingers. “As you may know... or may not, since you're both too ethical to eavesdrop and spy. Astrid was up in the sky when her powers started to vanish. Her fall was equal to the power of a fallen star, it burned a huge area in Midgard. It's probably about five-six miles around, everything is dead from the blast of her fall.” I felt Thor's arm twitch and Loki glanced at his brother. “She is okay... for the most part. I think her immortality was gone right after she fell, so she couldn't heal her burns right away, but she is healing, in the normal, slow, human way, but healing. Now, for the bad part... or good... depending on how you look at it... She doesn't know who she is, or where she is from.” Thor's fingers tightened and he swallowed, closing his eyes. “Will she ever remember?” “I have no idea. Unless father told you more about seeds than what he told me, not likely.” Thor lowered his head and sighed. “If the seed is dead...” “Her seed is dead... but somewhere there in Midgard there is another unused seed and...” Thor raised his head and his eyes lit up. “Of course! How could I forget! I can find it and it will give her back her immortality!” “Well, that is if you can find it, but it's worth a try. It may take some time...” Loki's words were interrupted by Thor's strong voice. “I don't care how long it takes, I'll find it!” He was looking right in front of him with a stone face, and I knew that he'd already made up his mind and no one would change his decision. I was about to open my mouth and say that I'd go with him and help looking for the seed, but Loki continued. “Okay, so... back to the way of getting you to Midgard. I told you about the burned valley for a reason. As you know, in the history of disasters like that, Sigyn is allowed to use her hidden power to duplicate nymphs, making exact duplicates, powers and all. Pulling her servants from other areas takes too long and most of the nymphs do not relocate easily, they're used to and love the places they live in. She would need a lot of nymphs to heal and regrow all the vegetation in that valley... So... are you two getting where I'm going with this yet?” Loki smiled and I scratched my head, turning to Thor, but he had the same blank expression on his face. “Not really...” “There will be a hundred or so nymphs going through the portal to Midgard, the descent will take a multiple parties and it will probably last all night...” Loki smirked at us. “I can sneak out with them!” Thor jumped, smiling ear to ear, but Loki shook his head. “You are forgetting about Heimdall's all seeing eyes. He will spot you in the crowd of women in a heartbeat. Besides, the presence of the God of Thunder himself will bring a lot of commotion between the nymphs, remember they are rarely leave Midgard.” “We will disguise him to look like a nymph...?” I scrunched my face, turning to Thor and imagining my brother in a floaty dress with flowers in his hair. He turned to me with an 'eat shit' expression and Loki laughed. “As much as I want to see him dressed as a woman, that wouldn’t work. Besides, mother will notice him gone and he will not get far, don't forget, her servants are watching his house. And I'm not even mentioning that his masculine figure will tower over the nymphs by at least a foot. No, it's impossible.” “Come on, just fucking tell us, stop teasing!” I blew up and Loki smiled. “It's easy. Sigyn will make a copy of Thor.” Loki leaned back into the chair, with satisfied smirk on his face. “Okay... I'll have a copy... but there is no way to get through the portal... So it will be two of me sitting here, good, maybe one of me will kill the other.” Thor sighed and Loki rolled his eyes. “The real you will go to Midgard with the nymphs.” “But you just said it's impossible...” I pulled to the edge of the chair, eager to know what Loki had to say. He stood up and walked to the window, taking his time to answer. “The way you proposed doing it, yes, but it's my plan, so nothing is impossible. One of the perks of being me is ability to be in places that... let's say not many people can visit freely...” Loki closed the blinds and unbuttoned his jacket. “I already used my canning power and, brothers, behold.. the famous invisibility cloak from father's treasury.” Loki pulled his jacket off, and I smirked, staring through the missing midsection of his body. His floating in the air upper part and separate hips with legs looked funny and I snorted, but Thor frowned. “You stole from father?” “Borrowed it, brother, without permission, but just borrowed it. I will return it to it's place safe and sound, right after we use it. Trust me, no one will ever know.” Loki pulled at the invisible fabric, and his body slowly reappeared from under the wraps. He packed it into a bag that he pulled from his pocket. “Even Heimdall can't see through it, I tested it walking in front of him a few times, then stood right in front of him, making faces, he didn't even blink.” A wide smile was playing on my brother's lips and I mirrored it. “Loki, you are awesome!” “Thank you, thank you.” He comically bowed both ways and Thor stood up, pulling Loki's hand and wrapping his arms around the smaller man. “I will never forget this, brother. I don't know how to thank you for all of this, but one day, I'll repay you.” “We'll talk about that when you are crowned.” Loki laughed and I jumped up from my seat and joined my brothers in a hug, feeling that my worry had finally let go of my nerves and I could breathe easily. “Now, the important things.” Loki pulled from our arms. “No one must know about it, well Sigyn has to, since she is helping, but no one else. Balder, we'll act and talk in public like we're talking about the real Thor that locked himself in his house all grumpy and not wanting to see anyone. It will all be ready in seven days and--” “Seven days? Why so long?” Thor breathed out and Loki sighed. “It's not just your everyday little shadow double that I can easily make! It has to be grown from the waters of the sacred lake. Sigyn can't just bring you there and make a copy, she has to sneak some water day by day, and bring it here. Plus, it takes time to grow an exact double, it will take at least half of the night! She will stay here and I will be impersonating her and myself at Vali's birthday that evening, making sure everyone can see both of us. So I'll be needing the cloak for that, then I'll bring it here closer to the morning and you, the real you, will use it to sneak to the Bifrost, just in time for the nymphs' departure.” “I'll do whatever it takes to help. You can count on me.” I smiled, thinking that if all this works, everything will be set right, and Loki turned to me. “I will need you to help me to play two people at the same time and I will need you to keep an eye out for Mother's maidens. But mainly I will need your usual loud voice, to let everyone know how Thor is pissed and doesn't want to see anyone.” |

Oh Balder! With his good and trusting heart, he's so gullible! And Thor? Can't he see who is really behind this? That Loki is a bastard, and I hate him! Then again, he is so clever...I kind of want to like him, villain that he is! Excellent update! But let me catch you posting pics instead of fics and there will be Hell to pay! (j/k, I love you!)

Um... first of all, THE NEW PICTURES! Ahhhhh! WHERE did you find that picture of my LANA?! She's gorgeous, exactly how I pictured her in my head! And astrid... so beautiful, hehehe. Now, back to business... it's almost cute how innocent Balder seems to be... definitely the brother in the middle, the soft hearted one. You wrote him so perfect! I just wish he would see through Loki... but the good thing is, I think if there came a time when he had to chose between his two brothers, he would definitely choose Thor. And see! He loves Astrid, too! Well... not like Thor, but like a good friend, one of the guys, and he wants her back for Thor... We'll see what happens, hehe. I'm addicted to this thing! Sorry I wish I could write more... and quote some favorite lines, but I'm on my phone, lol. I hate this stupid thing! Please! More!

Don’t you just love Balder!!! The helping, sensitive, just, wonderful brother. I love the phrases he uses, such as
But then, damn, I have to say it again. I love Loki! I can’t help it! Look
Just classic! He’s so full of himself and really smart, you must like him. I also love the feeling of brotherhood among them, how they jump to restrain Sol and how they call each other brother all the time. That’s where Loki gets his human, likeable note from, how he holds Sol’s arms behind her back and threatens her. I’m sure he feels brotherly love, but jealousy blinds him, poor thing. Speaking of Sol, that bitch (and now that I picture her, and you know how, it’s even worse) She sounds ominous when saying "got my revenge for now", I’m sure we’ll see more of her. And how she threatens them with eternal darkness if they dare to do anything against her. Hmmmm So, as I love contrasts, I could not help noticing the following: Sol’s light means fire, burning and pain. Balder’s light is the binding force for Thor and Astrid. It is the light that attaches the broken spear, a symbol of Astrid and her lost powers and broken memory, to Thor’s hammer, the symbol of his strength and his power, right there, on his chest, on his heart. Balder’s light will fight Sol’s threatening darkness. It is Balder that will bring Astrid and Thor back together. It is Thor’s blood that is now forever there on Astrid’s spear. It is Astrid’s spear that is now forever right there at his heart. This is so beautiful. And I am sure that his bleeding was not just in vain. Speaking of Thor, his body language here is brought to perfection. I felt his every emotion by just “looking” at him. How his arm twitches at the description of Astrid’s fall, how his fingers tighten as he closes his eyes at the mention of her memory loss, his stone face and determined look as he says he’ll find the seed, his jumping and smiling when he realizes he’ll be able to get to Midgard and look for Astrid after all. His frowning and a simple, yet so expressive question of Loki: “You stole from father?” Beautiful. The way you capture James… Always leaves me breathless. OK. More please? Thank you.

@ Jordan. Thank you baby! And that picture, it's just from the net... I saw it and thought it's Lana! @ Mia. Well, it's good, because there will be more Balder later! @ Bo. As usually, you got all the little hidden symbols! Broken spearhead and his hammer! And that light seals it together and his blood on it! And essence of Loki and Sol! Thank you girls!!! Love you all!! Well, this next chapter is not finished yet, I had tings to do, so I thought... it was a while since I updated.. A little bit now and more later! XII. (Lana's POV) I lowered the sack of firewood on the ground and looked at my friend, watching her trying to break a branch from a huge trunk of a fallen tree, and working herself breathless. “You need to take it easy, you are not completely healed yet.” I sighed, and she smiled at me, mounting the trunk. “I will get it one way or another! Come on, you stubborn branch!” She pushed with her legs to the base of the branch and dry wood gave in, splitting in half. “Woohoo! I won!” She stood up, raising her trophy in the air with a victorious smile. “I can't believe it's only been six days since I woke up. My wound is almost healed and every day I feel more and more strength returning to me. Your herbs work wonders!” “Plants hold the miracles of life in them, you just have to know what to use and always ask them for help, before taking even one leaf. They are happy to give.” I untied the sack and tucked the broken branch into the bunch. “My turn to carry it.” Sig pulled the straps from my hands. “Are you sure? It's heavy.” “I can do it, it's not that far.” She threw the load over her shoulder, and I held a sigh as she walked past me. For three days now Sig was coming with me to the forest to check my traps and gather wood for the fire and every day she was getting stronger and stronger. It was making me happy and sad at the same time, because it also meant that the day of our trip was getting closer. Of course I was planning to go and find Radda, but I was hoping that day would come much later. In the past six days I felt something that I had been missing for months, I felt like I had a home and a family. I wanted to prolong that, fearing that once Sig remembered her life she would return to her family and leave me. I didn't wanted to lose her, I felt connected to her, as if she was a sister I never had. I looked at my companion, who had gotten further ahead and ran to follow, chasing my selfish thoughts away. “Honestly, slow down!” A sudden flash of lightning lit up the sky, shortly followed by thunder, and Sig stopped, looking up. Her hand let go of the strap and flew to her chest, making me smile at her reaction. “Perun's fury is upon us, we need to hurry.” I picked up the fallen sack, but my friend didn't move, still looking at the dark clouds above us. “Who is Perun?” “The almighty God of Thunder, come on, we need to get back!” I pulled her arm and she turned to me with a puzzled face. “A God...?” “Don't you believe in Gods? Oh... right... sorry, I forgot you can't remember... Well, Perun is one of many Gods, but he is most powerful one, everyone is afraid of his lightning bolts. If you were a viking, you'd call him Thor.” As though to empower my words another bright flash crossed the sky and Sig returned her eyes to the sky. “Thor... no, that doesn't sound familiar... maybe I'm not a viking.” More thunder rocked the air and she closed her eyes for a second before turning her face back to the flashing clouds. “But this rumbling... It's... it makes my heart skip and beat faster...” “That's fear. It makes your heart pound in your chest.” Sig's eyes followed another lightning flash. “No... I don't feel frightened, it feels like something... something I know... something... close to my heart, I feel... safe... as safe as I've ever been in my life. It makes me feel warm... happy and somehow sad at the same time... I can't really explain it...” “Maybe that place you're from had a lot of rain... or maybe the storm is connected to something in your life...” I looked at my friend and her hand moved to the chain on her neck, pulling it from underneath the shirt. Her fingers slowly outlined the empty setting of the pendant, and her blue eyes full of sadness met mine. “Lana... we need to find your friend, if she can help me... I want to remember where I'm from, remember the people I loved... I feel much better and strong enough for the trip.” “But you are not completely healed yet, let's spend more time here in the safety of the cave, who knows when we can find shelter like that again. Plus, I already have all this food, I don't want to waste it... ” I looked at my hand, which was holding a freshly slayed rabbit, battling with my conscience. I am being selfish, she is strong enough, she just proved it today. I can't hold her here just because I want to spend more time with her, it's not right. She needs to remember, she needs to come back to her loved ones. My fingers lightly touched her arm. “If you want we can start our trip tomorrow, we'll make more frequent stops and by the will of the Gods we'll make it.” “Okay!” She turned to me with a happy smile. “We can get it all ready tonight and leave early in the morning, as early as possible! I can't wait to remember who I am!” Multiple flashes lit the sky in an eerie dance, highlighting Sig's figure. The wind picked up her hair, floating it up behind her like a cape, her eyes reflected the sparks of lightning, making her look like a vision from another world. The sky thundered, spilling the first few drops of rain and Sig laughed, raising her face to the rain. “I know one thing, I love thunder!” “You will love it less when you get soaked! Come on!” I pulled her hand and we ran up the hill to the safety of our cave. |

What a tasty Christmas treat! Thank you so much for the update Olya! I'm sad that Lana is so anxious about losing Astrid/Sig's company and friendship. I am sure she has nothing to worry about. I see her being very instrumental in helping our heroine undo what mischief Loki and his horrible accomplice have wrought. I LOVE how Astrid's SOUL remembers! Her mind may not remember Thor, but her body and her soul remember that she loves him, more than she would ever care to admit to herself if she had her memory back. |

I told you this before, but I'll repeat it:
This is such a beautiful scene!!! It's as if she is calling for him! And my guess is, all the thunder means he's on his way. I'm so excited!!! She reaches for her missing pendant. Thor has a new pendant on his chest. I can only sigh right now! This was way too short! I want more! Soon!

An update! Ahhh! Busy busy busy, I suck. So many important mentions in this tiny update! Poor Lana. She sees Sig getting stronger, in both mind and body according to her reaction to the lightning. She knows herself, but doesn't know what to make of it. She's still Astrid, but it's like having all the pieces but no instruction manual to put it together. And Lana is finally feeling like she's having a family again, and then they're going to start making the trip so Astrid can start remembering who she is. (I'm really anxious for that part with her and Radda, btw.. hehehe.) If Lana wasn't so selfless, I would be worried that she might make rash decisions based on wanting to keep Sig with her longer. But Lana's great, and I don't think she would do that. But Lana will have a family again soon... I can feel it, hehe. And like Bo said, and like I told you before also... This scene is absolutely amazing.
This is so euphoric and colorful and loud, and you just can feel yourself standing by Sig, looking up to the sky with your arms out and sticking out your tongue to feel the raindrops fall on it. UGH! And then Lana points out how it makes her look like a vision from another world. Hmmm... wonder if that'll help her put the pieces together. And her reaction to the thunder brings me back to my last point... About how she is still herself, but doesn't have all the right pieces. The lightning makes her happy, because it reminds her of Thor, who is a large part of her past. And she's sad because she's so close to it, can feel it and can see it, can feel his reactions, but she can't get to it. She doesn't know it's him.
