Good online resources for learning guitar?

Does anyone know of any pretty good online resources for learning guitar? I've tried YouTube, but I can't seem to find anything that really goes beyond just showing how to play some chords. What I'm looking for is something that actually teaches guitar as a whole, if that makes sense - something that will help me not only be able to play covers, but also teach me enough to where maybe at some point, I can compose my own stuff. It's so sad, I've had a guitar for almost four years now, and I'm still at a very beginner level because I get frustrated when I get so far into a video series or something and then realize I'm only playing back what I'm being showed, not actually learning *how* to play. I'd take lessons, but unfortunately, I can't afford that, lol. Any advice or suggestions?

Thanks! I've used Ultimate Guitar to look up different chords before, but I had no idea they had an app now, nor were pretty extensive in what they cover. :)

Yesssss. I don't know where I'd be without Guitar Pro. It makes it so much easier to understand the timing and stuff.
