Hey, I was wondering what songs you guys think would be the best for beginner guitarists/bassists to learn?

I used to play a bit of guitar/bass and had learned some of The Unforgiven and Nothing Else Matters on guitar and some on Enter Sandman on bass but I want to get back into playing.
So which 'Tallica songs do you think are easiest to learn? Or any band for that matter...

Well for me For Whom the Bell Tolls was really easy. Check My Brain by Alice N Chains was really easy. Ummm, Like the slow parts of One and Sanitarium isnt to complicated :D Nutshell, Stone, JunkHead and Hollow by Alice N Chains are pretty simple :D Im not including the solo's when i say these songs are easy. Solo's are a whole different story. I think different songs are easier for different people because people are on different skill levels and some beginners might catch on fast to For Whom the Bell Tolls and some might have to take it slow :D I can tell you this though, if you are just starting out, dont try to learn and Van Halen, Pantera, or really fast Metallica songs because it will be EXTREMLEY difficult :D But with PRACTICE and time, you will be able to play anything :D Good luck with it and if you ever have any guitar questions, you can PM me :D (I play guitar by the way and it is Really Awsome !! :D )

Thanks for the reply! Some of these sound like a really good idea to try and learn and I know what you mean when you say you aren't including the solos because I've actually managed to learn a Tool song that I found quite easy (except the second solo lol :P )

The first solo in master of puppets is pretty easy and ride the lightning is really simple apart from kirks solo.

Am I evil is very easy, Enter Sandman too.
And if you dig deeper into Metallica's catalogue, you'll find songs like "Mama Said" and "Low Man's Lyric" which are both very easy.

you know which song was incredibly easy to learn? Nothing else matters, also some others like one, sanitarium, until it sleeps, mama said, the intro of justice for all, and for whom the bell tolls, and the unforgiven. :nanner:

My bf actually plays guitar in a Metallica tribute band (he's James! :) and he recommends Enter Sandman, Sad But True, For Whom The Bell Tolls and Motorbreath (to practice your picking) for beginners. Nothing off ...And Justice for All or Master of Puppets he adds :P

Good Luck! :dance
