I'm the boss.
Midgar Memories works with stats; Five of them, to be precise. But keep in mind that these stats are merely guidelines; They are not precise. If your character, A, has 15 Strength, and your opponent, B, will have 14, that doesn't mean you can just overpower him. Because the stats are mere guidelines we trust our members not to godmod. Also, keep in mind that despite only being guidelines, you are still limited to your capabilities! You can't lift a boulder at 10 Strength with the excuse that it's just a guideline!

The human average for every stat is 7. At startup, every character has a total of 35 Mako Points -Mako Points are the name for stat points on this site, and will from now on be referred to as such- to be divided over these 5 stats. Ah, of course. I haven't even told you what the stats are yet, have I? Well, I suppose I should. Here's the list and descriptions:

Strength

Just as the name says it, Strength is your brawn, your physical might, your ability to dish out melee damage and catch spells and attacks with shields and otherwise armored bodyparts. Higher strength is required to be able to wield two-handed weaponry and to carry heavier objects. If you want to move at full speed with heavier armor, you need high strength as well.

Constitution

Constitution can be described as your physical stamina, the amount of hits you can take from melee weapons before being knocked out cold. Constitution is required to back up your other stats, because without Constitution, you'll get tired too quickly. At high ranks, where your opponents start getting greater destructive force, Constitution will become even more important, because a rank 10 technique can obliterate any average man. Make sure that by that time, you are no longer an average man.

Dexterity

Dexterity can be described as your reflexes, your ability to see things before they happen and react quickly in response. It is also your physical speed and finesse, your agility, in short it is how well you control your own body. Of course, to run fast and dodge quick you need high amounts of Constitution. Being quick of reflex isn't exactly useful when you're out of breath after dodging a single strike.

Magic

Magic, ah, magic. That ethereal force directly from the Lifestream that powers the Planet's mages. By upgrading the Magic stat, your magical weapons such as wands, rods, scepters and staves will increase in power. You will also be able to cast more magic if you have a higher amount of this stat. Casting too much magic with a low Magic stat will make you physically tired no matter how high your Constitution is, even to the point of life-threatening exhaustion.

Willpower

Where the Magic stat describes your ability to cast more magic and have a higher magical offense, Willpower is your defense against most magical techniques and weapons. Some magic, such as some elemental magic (mainly the solids), will also take Constitution into consideration, but most magics are purely resisted through willpower.
