National Football League Canadian Football League For a long time now I've drifted further & further over to the Canadian side of the football ledger than the American side...there's a few reasons why: (1)three downs instead of four; emphasizes passing & makes every down count (2)bigger, wider field(110 yds. long & 65 yds. wide) which allows for more players on the field(12 vs. 11), a wider variety of plays that can be used and a more dramatic style of play (3)no fair catch rule in Canadian football; once the punter sends the ball up in the air, there's a 5-yard zone the kicking team's players can't enter around the ball but otherwise the punt returner is fair game (4)all offensive players behind the line of scrimmage can go into motion, which can create some interesting mismatches and allows receivers to get downfield faster than in the NFL There's a few other reasons but those come to mind the fastest... |
