Cell Block
Unregistered

*** 10 a.m. Tuesday Morning. Cell Block sits at large table eating breakfast. He picks up the local newspaper, The Houston Chronicle, and begins to read the sports section. ***

Cell Block: “Man. The Rockets are on fire this year. I hope we can at least make it to the playoffs.”

*** Cell Block loves sports. All sports. After a while Jackson Walker, Cell Block, finishes his breakfast and takes his dishes to the sink. He leaves the kitchen and walk through his living room. He reaches for the television remote and turns on channel 602. ESPN. John Anderson is on Sportscenter talking about Matt Hasselback and the Seahawks beating the 49ers Monday night. As Jackson is standing there watching, “King Kong” by Jibbs starts to play. It’s his cell phone. He looks down at the number and gets a puzzled look on his face. He must not recognize the number. ***

Cell Block: “Hello?”

………….

Cell Block: “Mr. Tolly. How are you?”

………….

Cell Block: “Sure I can meet you there. See you in a few.”

*** Cell Block hangs up his phone and gets a big smile on his face. Anthony Tolly just called to interview him. Cell Block turns off the TV and goes to his bedroom where he changes his clothes. The scene cuts and the re-opens outside his home in River Oaks. The front door opens and out walks Jackson Walker. He puts his Coach sunglasses on as he closes the door. He is wearing black slacks with a light grey silk shirt, slightly unbuttoned at the top. He has on his black Armani shoes. Cell Block walks over to his candy red Porsche 911 GT2. He hops in and lights up the rear tires as he screeches out onto the street. ***

*** The red 911 comes tearing up the street and squeals to a stop in front of the local Gold’s Gym. Cell Block climbs out of the exotic car and grabs a small bag. He shuts the door and heads inside the gym. Sitting near the front desk is Anthony Tolly, the man from the phone call earlier and an EWF interviewer. Tolly is reading a People magazine when he notices the 6’3” ex con. He drops the magazine and shoots out of his seat like a bottle rocket. He extends his hand to Cell Block. ***

Tolly: “Cell Block. It’s an honor to finally meet you. I’ve been doing some reading on you. Needless to say, I am very excited about your arrival to EWF. Please, sit.”

*** Cell Block removes his sunglasses and takes a seat in the lobby of the gym with Tolly. ***

Tolly: “Now tell me. You are scheduled for your first match in the EWF this coming Monday at Revolution. How do you feel about being in a dark match?”

Cell Block: “Well, I understand everyone has to start at the bottom of the food chain. I will go out there and show the world and everyone in EWF that I am worth having around. Look at me. Six foot three. Two hundred and seventy five pounds. I’m pure machine and ready to take on anything! Now I know I’m in no place to making assumptions, but I think I’ll come out on top of this one. Nothing compares to what I’ve been through.”

Tolly: “About that, tell me about your past. I understand it was a bit troubled. Did you know that another new member, Chris Judas Barnett, also did some time? He isn’t very proud of himself. He seems to have turned over a new leaf in his life.”

*** Cell Block’s smile turns to a scowl. His brow furrows at the sound of Tolly’s question. ***

Cell Block: “Is that supposed to make me feel comfortable? Just because there is another man who’s been in jail means we’re going to hit it off? I know all about CJ Barnett. He was some two time punk who went to jail and was scared straight. He’s not proud of what he did? Neither am I! But I accept what I did and when people ask me why I went away, I tell them, I killed a man over $57 and a watch. F*ck CJ Barnett. Prison is a tomb to intimidate the weak into keeping on the straight and narrow. That’s just what happened to Chris Judas. He got intimidated by the man. I use prison as fuel. I use prison as a tool to helping me in the ring. Barnett comes in saying he’s a sinner gone saint. I’ll say this again, F*ck CJ Barnett. I knew the minute I saw him we were going to beef.”

*** Tolly sits in his chair in total shock looking at the man who he thought was so nice. Tolly stutters as he asks his next question. ***

Tolly: “Yo-yo-you aren’t even facing him Monday. What does this mean for Chad Duncan?”

Cell Block: “Chad Duncan; YOU’RE IN FOR LIFE!”

*** Cell Block stands up from his chair and walks away. He goes through the door and into a locker room. Tolly watches him leave and then looks back at the camera in total disbelief. ***
