~The scene opens outside the unemployment office near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Inside the office, one sees several desks with government employees sitting across from honest people looking to make an honest day's wage. As the camera pans around the room, snippets of conversation can be picked up~ “I'm sorry, Mr. Crabtree. You just don't have any qualifications for any of our jobs.” “Ms. Palmer, I know you need work. But you have to understand we only have so many jobs to go around. Try again next week, okay?” “Your unemployment checks won't be coming after next month, Mr. Allen. You've had plenty of time to find a job, you will just have to figure something out.” ~Out of all these people, one man walking through stands out. A well groomed and nicely dressed man, newly cropped short black hair framing his face. And most conspicuous of him, he carries a large gold title over each shoulder as he walks through, shaking his head as he looks from one hard luck person to another before he looks up, acknowledging the camera. It is none other than Ryan Mackenzie~ Here we are, Kyle. Here we are less than 48 hours away from the biggest match of your wrestling career. In less than two nights, you are going to step into the ring with the greatest TV champion of all time. In two nights, you are going to face me for the EWF Television Championship. And normally, that'd be the end of it. But it's not, I'm here at the unemployment office for a reason, Kyle. ~A pat on the back from the champion to one of the out of work fathers sitting and waiting patiently for his turn to speak with someone. He smiles up to the champion as Ryan walks towards the camera~ You see, Kyle. I heard your little rumor. You know the one about you threatening to quit if you lose your match this week. What's the matter, Kyle? Is life in the EWF too difficult for you anymore? Are you really this bad off to end your career here over one match? Don't get me wrong, I can't blame you. Your career here has been an absolute joke! Let's face it, you have victories over nobodies. You haven't beaten anyone of any championship caliber. Now your loss record, that's your most impressive string of opponents. You've lost to some of the best in the EWF without a doubt. Thursday night, Kyle, the list gets a little longer. ~The dual champion shakes his head as he sees a lady holding her underdressed baby on her lap, as she waits to see about a job, obviously to care for the infant~ Normally, when I talk to my opponents, I make them look stupid. I crack jokes. I make fun of them. Hell, I tear them apart before I ever get in the ring. But you, Kyle? I'm not going to do that here. Why? Because unlike most of the guys I face, I have some respect for them and am trying to psych them out. You? You are just an embarrassment to me. Beating you? It means nothing to my career. A win over Kyle Churchill is like ordering a pizza. A moment of enjoyment, only to be forgotten a few seconds afterwards. ~The champion makes his way through the exit, as he offers one of the more desperate looking people a few dollars as he looks back to the camera~ You know what I can't believe? It took you this long to think about hanging it up. You see, Kyle, we both broke in almost at the same time. You stayed at the bottom of the ladder, and at the same time, I got a Legacy title match coming up in a week! But that's just one difference between us, Kyle. Now don't get me wrong, there are tons of differences. I'm talented. You're not. I'm a champion. You're not. I have a beautiful fiance. You probably have a goldfish. But you know the biggest difference, Kyle? I'm not a quitter, and you are. You threaten to quit if you don't win. Well let me save you the time then. Because I will damn well guarantee you that you won't walk out of Mayhem with a title, unless it's a foam one sold at the concession stand. ~Gesturing to the folks slowly making their way in to the building, Ryan signs an autograph or two that seems to brighten their day as he regards the camera again~ I hate people like you, Kyle. I hate people who grandstand, and try to weasel their way into things they don't deserve. You and I both know you don't belong in the same ring with me. You and I both know it's a foregone conclusion that you will not take the Television Title away from me. You and I both know that you don't have a snowball's chance in hell against me at Mayhem. So you're gonna quit if you lose. Hell, Kyle! If I can't beat you, I should quit! ~One long look back at the mass of people inside the office as the champion seems disappointed for them, but looks back to the camera angry~ You know something? These people here? Even they are better than you. They are doing what they have to do to make it. They are using every opportunity available to them to ensure their success. They are not quitters. When the world takes a crap on them, they don't take their little ball and threaten to go home. Kyle, your grandstanding and your ridiculous threat of leaving if you lose aren't going to get you anything. Because unlike life, In that ring, you have nothing to rely on but skill. You think I'm going to take pity on your sorry ass because you might quit? You think that's going to make me go easier on you? ~Leaning face to lens with the camera and shaking his head!~ I've sent more guys out of this fed anybody on the roster! At least all of them left quietly, they didnt bleat and whine like little bitches about what they were going to do if they lost. At least, they didn't try to build in an excuse before the match happened. I didn't like them, but at least they were respectable. You, Kyle? You're not respectable. You're not even what I'd call a superstar. Truth to power, Kyle, you aren't even in my league! So here you go, Kyle. I got you a chair all picked out here at the unemployment office. I got someone waiting for you to come in, someone ready to hear your qualifications for the janitor's job at the local high school. This is going to be a big week for you, Kyle. Thursday, you got your TV title match. Friday, you get at the back of the unemployment line and start trying to find a career that you are more suited towards. ~The champ opens his car door, getting in as he looks back one last time to the camera as he rolls down the window~ This Thursday, I do the EWF a favor! I do one of two things. I end your miserable and pathetic career, like you threatened. Or I beat your ass, and you don't quit. Then we can add you another title to your resume, liar. You're not worth my time, Kyle. You're not worth my title. And ultimately, you're just not worth a damn! |
