January 23rd ,???? Old Belmont Estate 18:48 local time His royal blue eyes were engaged with the image that was in front of him, the image of his father and mother attacking each other all those years ago. He was only two then and so much of why it ever went down escaped him. Vincent had told him it was because Jada didn't care about him, that she only loved Katherine and would rather spend all her energy on her then on her own son... the heir to the Belmont throne. He didn't know what to believe though. Christopher had told him that Vincent was known as "he of the wicked tongue", whatever that meant. But there he sat watching those images over and over again, wondering, why? Why did his parents fight? Were they angry over something? Over him? Or was it something deeper then that? If he only knew, there was so much about his parents that he didn't know. He wanted to know. He needed to know. His father had been there for him...but kept silent about the past. His mother was the same. That fist came down on the desk hard enough to splinter the heavy mahogany. Why wouldn't they tell him? Katherine was old enough to know, but she was off at school...being the perfect child. Liam sneered at the very thought of her. His perfect sister...even her name left a sour taste in his mouth. His parents doted on her and left him in the dark. And here he sat...at the old Belfast mansion that had been abandoned by the family so many years ago, rifling through old photographs and videos. He remembered the summers spent at the Arizona ranch...riding horses, running through the fields...until it just suddenly stopped. A pale hand ran through his dark hair, his mother's hair...when a noise from behind him made him jump to attention. "For a half-breed, Liam, I thought your hearing would have been better than that." Eyes as blue as the sky came to rest on a man with a familiar shock of red hair, wearing the fatigues of the United States Army. It was a face Liam hadn't seen for almost five years. Mikhail Kreuz. "I thought I was alone... evidently, that is not the case." Liam closed his eyes for a few seconds wondering what Mikhail was doing here. Didn't he have a shadow he needed to step out of? Or was he finally going to give up on his dreams of becoming better then his father, David McCoy? Didn't matter to Liam either way he went, just as long as he didn't bring up Katherine's name in their conversation. There was no denying that Mikhail had a small crush on his sister, even if the red haired hellcat's son would never admit it to himself or to Liam. He could smell it on him, it made him sick to his stomach. "So... what do I owe the pleasure of being graced by Mikhail Kreuz's presence?" "I was doing some work for the Army. That, and visiting a few cousins. Dad's family is originally from Belfast...Aunt Jada said I could come and visit the old house. God, I remember playing here when I was a kid...you were too young to remember when the Grandmaster kidnapped you, me, Kat, Faith and Destiny. Augustus had both your mom and your dad livid...especially your mom. She wanted to go out right then and hunt him down...even though she was only human." The adopted son of David McCoy gave him a small smile, walking over and picking up a picture on the desk...an old HiWF Pay-Per-View promo shot. It was of Alexander declaring Jada dead to the new Covenant. "Huh...didn't know any of these old shots survived. Tough times for Aunt Jada and Alex back then." "Is that so? I would like to know things but people say I was too young to know... and I shouldn't know either. It would only make me see people in a different light." His words were laced with anger as he looked at Mikhail; Mikhail knew all about his past and just like the others he was "sworn" never to tell Liam the truth... the truth of why his father and mother fought all those years ago... why Katherine was the favorite child and he was just the special needs one. The truth would set him free, but no one was willing to talk to him. He hated them all for that. Mikhail raised an eyebrow to his younger cousin and gave him a frown, "Still play the neglected and forgotten child, aren't you? Jesus, Liam. Did you ever stop to think that maybe those memories are painful...maybe too painful to relive? Your mom and dad love you. That's all that should matter." The redhead set the picture back down on the table. Those years had been hard on everyone...even his own parents. Vampire politics, human politics...and an onslaught of other things had been on everyone's table back then. Jin had to deal with his father's death, and his mother's failing health. Mikhail's own parents couldn't be together as often as they wanted...their jobs kept them apart ten months out of the year. Alexander was busy making sure Kat received the education she deserved...and Jada was looking after her businesses, hoping that her son would choose a decent path in life. No one wanted to go back to the old days. The old days were nothing but chaos and pain. Mikhail couldn't understand Liam's obsession about wanting to know about what caused the rift between his parents. "If they loved me... then why? Why do they hide these things from me? Shouldn't I know of my past, of their past? Is it NOT my right to know this so I don't make the same mistakes they did? I don't want to become like them... not together because of the past. I want closure and none of you are willing to give it to me! It's always your playing the forgotten child, Liam... maybe that's because I am forgotten, Mikhail! While you are out serving the country and all that other RAH RAH Kill anything that doesn't agree with our views mentality... Katherine is going to college and getting an education... and me? I'm getting nothing!" Liam drove his fist through the wall and just snarled as his eyes glimmered a deep red. He was becoming very angry... his breathing was shallow and quick as he brought his fist out from the wall and just stared at the blood trickling down his knuckles. Pain, his only true friend now. The others had forgotten him, but Pain never has and never will... "I serve in the Army to give something back to the country that gave me everything, Liam. My father was murdered when I was two." Mikhail swallowed the anger rising up in his throat as Liam just gave him a sideways glance. "What do you mean? I thought McCoy was your dad." "He is...but he adopted me a year or so later after he fell in love with my mom. He showed me what it means to be a man, Liam; and right now, you're acting like little more than a spoiled child. He and Mom always said that Jada spoiled you beyond all reason. She gave you everything, hell...she almost died just giving birth to you. You're were never the forgotten child, you just made yourself that way. Kat always looked out for you. Your father and mother would give you anything you asked for, so don't tell me about being forgotten." Mikhail's frown grew, he wanted to take a 2x4 and knock some sense into the younger boy. After all...he was just a boy. At twenty-six, Mikhail was five years Liam's senior. The boy knew all too well what loss was. "I suggest you leave, Mikhail... I have a lot of searching for answers and you aren't helping me... don't you have a country to blow up because they are "hiding" weapons?" Liam might not remember much of his past but he does know what the American Government makes their military do for them. Mikhail might be his family but right now he didn't respect his career choice and he didn't respect him coming into HIS old home and telling him what he should do. He would never give up his search for the truth... this was too important to him to just throw away because Mikhail Kreuz told him to do so. Mikhail moved quickly, grabbing Liam and holding him up against the wall with both hands fisted tightly in his jacket lapels. The fury written in the older boy's blue eyes startled the Belmont heir and the redhead's voice came out in a snarl, "Don't ever disrespect the freedoms that country gives you, Liam. People give their lives so you can continue living. You have no idea the hell your mother and father went through to protect you from the NSA's experiments on the vampires. You have no idea how much other people have given up just so you could keep on breathing. If you want to learn a little about your past, why don't you ask Kat? She might be willing to talk to you if you drop the neglected child act for once." With a sigh, Mikhail dropped Liam to the ground...staring down at the boy with shame in his eyes. "I don't know how you ever got so lucky to have her watching out for you. You don't deserve any of it." "Out... I want you out of this house now! Don't you EVER touch me again or I swear... it will be the last thing you ever get to do." Liam snarled back as he rubbed his neck trying to get the feeling back, his eyes went feral as he felt the demon inside him fighting for its release... "Mikhail... leave now... for your own good." Liam closed his eyes as he clutched to his head trying to fight back the demon. He didn't want to kill Mikhail, it was just a little fight between family. Tough love so to say, no need for bloodshed tonight. "Please... Mikhail." "I'm gone..." With a huff, the son of Helena Kreuz left, his paratrooper boots clunking on the floor. Liam closed his eyes and let out a heavy sigh. Well, he found out one piece of information tonight. Maybe his mother hadn't forgotten him. He hadn't known a thing about the incident with Augustus, hell...he didn't even know who Augustus was. One question answered...created three more questions. I can answer your questions... A voice whispered through the house and Liam looked around. "Who are you?!" Liam returned to his feet as he felt the demon settling down inside himself. His eyes returned to their normal sky blue as he looked over the room never seeing where the voice came from... a Parlor trick? Vincent coming to speak to him once more? He just didn't know... The Ghost of Christmas Past... The voice let out a laugh that sent a shiver up his spine. Do you want you questions answered, little prince? "Yes..." That was the only word that escaped Liam's lips as he closed his eyes. This was what he wanted for a long time... a little bit of closure... ************ “I got an assignment for you. Creed wants into GAM, in fact he wants YOUR spot. What do you plan on doing about it?” You smirked at the text message that Alexander Stryfe had left you. Creed wanted into GAM? What was Creed thinking about believing he could take out the God of Wrath! Undefeated in singles competition and you planned on keeping it that way for a very long time to come. What has Creed done to believe he was worthy of becoming a member of Gods Among Men? Let alone take your spot!? He has done NOTHING to do it. He has not beaten the men you have beaten. He has not defeated the so called undefeatable. He has not sent men like Nick Shaw and Adam Linn to their demise! He is nothing to you, just a passing glance. Another notch in your win column and just another soul to be buried beneath the Dublin Sky! Seven men have came before him and each one of them have been left dead and broken; only ONE had the balls to try again and alas he failed to stop you for the second time. These mortals were nothing, just play things until you grew tired of them and just tossed them to the side for the next one. Creed would be no different to you. He would fall before your power and he will come to realize what everyone else already knows to be the gospel truth… No one ever survives an encounter with LIAM ALEXANDER! -fin- |
