I do not have a "hobby" of sorts as I am unable to enjoy things since my raising, yet this seems the right place to adress this. For me there is only my work, and with my work come my weapons. My rune weapon is a claidheamh mòr which The Master had claimed from a Scottish nobleman. During the centuries I have collected many weapons, and have learned to forge them myself. Unfortunately they have significantly lost use over the centuries, and everyone uses firearms now. Do any of you have knowledge about projectileless weapons, either their use or their forging? |

Then you must be exceptionally strong and skilled, wielding a greatsword in one hand alongside a large shield. |

if i were just strong, then i probably couldn't do it, but a big part is my size. I'm seven feet tall and build like two brick shithouses stacked next to each other. on one hand it's cost me a truckload to get large enough armor, as well as proper living accommodation in the cathedral, on the other hand, the greatsword looks about as big in my hands as a larger bastard sword in someone of normal height |

Also, the tower sheild is on a triple buckle to keep it from sliding around on my arm. that fastening system really helps me with wielding it |

You know. Your fighting style makes fuck all sense to me. I'm 196cm(6'5ish iirc). While I'm not built like a shit brickhouse, I'd never even consider using a great sword and tower shield in conjunction(especially in a greco-roman style). It sounds incredibly damn clumsy and slow in my ears. Since you know, most great swords are around 150-200cms. Depending on type. |

that's because most all greatswords are weighted to be weilded in two hands. they're way too top heavy in most cases, but get a greatsword with a light enough blade (and a heavy pommel stone) and it can actually be weighted. that being said, mine's a bit irregular in construction with a mythril body and an adamantium/starmetal edge. it weighs in a bit under 13 pounds, but that works for me. that being said, i probably couldn't use it in a phalanx, but i'll never need to. it's more based off a gladiator style than a formation style. it also involves ramming. lots of ramming. |

@Alisair 13 pound greatsword!? Are you shitting me?! Tell me whose your swordsmith, I'm going to punch him or her in the face for incompetence. How long is it? Because as it sounds right now, 7ft or not, you're weighing yourself down and using way to clumsy weapons. |

I will with gladness. his name's Dralon Unsir, and you're going to have to beat me to it. i just checked the thing, and it actually has runes of weight interspersed with the blessings on it. RUNES. OF. WEIGHT. i didn't even know you could be that much of a dick and stay in buisness. the only reason i figure i hadn't noticed how retarded it was is because i trained with some rather heavy weights to build up to them. i'm going to grab one of the bases' swords |

Well on the bright side, once you do get a properly weighted sword, you'll probably be able to swing it around as if it were made of paper after using such a heavy sword for so long. Maybe that's what your swordsmith intended for? And hey, if you keep practicing with unnecessarily heavy swords, maybe someday you'll be able to work yourself up to wielding something like this? As for my experience with melee weapons, I have none. I prefer to summon things to fight for me rather than do it myself. |
