Hola. I was the short lived nation known as LosCerrosDuros, and I was thinking of maybe getting back into NS for a bit, but I'm not entirely sure yet. I had been a member of TEK, but I had some contact with Mordor also, and thought I would probably move to Mordor or create a multi(I forget what they call it here) there eventually.

The reason I left is that it just didn't seem worth the trouble. Initially I was going try to write/read interesting lore, but it doesn't seem like anyone cares to read what anyone else's factbooks, and a lot of the RP seemed to benefit the writer more than the reader. Then I was just going to cause mayhem and be a raider, but the mechanics are constricting, and don't get me started on the silliness that is the WA.

I figure I'll probably come back for a bit to cause mayhem again for a bit, just wondering what you guys might have to say on the subject, since you all play this game more than I do.

I also started playing this game called Brunelleschi, and it's in beta and we're in dire need of players that aren't so overly pacifistic. Right now something like 8/10 of the top 10 are all in an alliance together, and refuse to ever break it up, though I've had some success with forcing their hand. They're basically killing the game with their overly OP alliance, and won't fight each other because they all came from another game I also play. Anyway, I'm dialing down my activity in that game right now, but I could give away some of my extra accounts/settlements, and hook you up with my allies there; multi'ing is also allowed there.

There's tons of mayhem that one can do with the mechanics there though. I've burnt down entire districts(you only start with a max of 3, the top guy has like 20), moved into settlements and made them fight each other, and there's a crime skill that I haven't even unlocked yet. Here's a screen shot of one of my deeds:

and Anjou isn't mine, lol

So I thought with the LOTR thing and the what you guys do in NS it might be a good fit. It's at brunegame.com if you care to join.

I wanted to be both in Mordor and to be a raider, but I don't know if I can keep up with one account, let alone two. Any chance you guys are gonna turn Mordor into a raider region? :D though I guess there already is one with the nazgul theme. Either way, as long as I'm playing this game I'll be sure to cause some more chaos and disorder.

Feel free to move to a more appropriate board, or delete the recruiting for other game part if that isn't allowed.

First I just want to say welcome to the forum and I'm glad you're considering joining us. There are some technical issues you'll want to address but I'll get to those after telling you about more interesting things.

I was also a bit disappointed with how little attention people seemed to pay to Factbooks, I myself tried to put a lot of my nation's history and structure into them but nobody seemed to really pay attention. So if you do write factbooks I would love to see them. As for RP, Mordor has a pretty strong history in that regard, but currently there is only one running. It's a Star Wars themed RP that I'm running. If you are at all interested in starting an RP I would be very interested in joining and I'm sure others on here would join in to. If you're just interested in playing, you're welcome to join the Star Wars RP or you're welcome to wait awhile for some of the others to get restarted and for some new ones to begin.

As for raiding, Mordor is still primarily a defender region, however we're just now preparing to start something that I think you'll enjoy. If you've ever heard of the Skeleton Army you'll know exactly what I mean. The idea is that instead of moving WA nations into another region and seizing the delegacy, we move non-WA nations into a region and we stage an RP invasion with natives on their RMB. It's fun, doesn't hurt either region, and encourages stronger activity and ties between the two regions. Personally, I think this sounds more fun than traditional raiding, but I'm probably a little biased.

Thanks for letting us know about Brunelleschi, I'm sure if you posted that in our gaming section you'd find a lot of people interested in playing.

Now for the technical stuff, as Ulaire of Integration I'm supposed to tell you that If you do decide to join us, and I really think you ought to, you'll need to move a nation into Mordor and post here http://w11.zetaboards.com/MordorNS/topic/8158768/1/

It's quick and painless and an Admin will get mask you as a Denizen with all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities that come with it.

Let me know if you have any questions or if I can help you with anything else.

Hey, welcome to our corner of NS; based on what you've said, I think you'll enjoy making a nation and becoming a member of Mordor.

All I can really do is agree with what Malkir said, if you like RP then we want you to come and help with our RP invasions that we are going to be staging all over NationStates.

I moved for now, since I don't have the effort to do raiding just yet. I imagine I'll have to make another account anyway, since names for nations don't always make good usernames, they should've told me that's how it works when I was joining.

With writing stories you're generally the master of the whole universe, while RP seems to a different beast. The RP focus of this game may be part of why I never got really into it; while it can be nice to have, it's easier for me to understand things as a game if there're also some binding mechanics. There's a lot I don't completely get with multi-person RP, if it's not connected to something tangible, but that's a whole discussion in and of itself.

Personally, I might prefer if it caused real damage in some way, but at the same time real raiding wasn't the most amazing thing possible either, so I could go for the details on how the skeleton army thing goes.

Standard practice for raiding is that you take a group of WA nations and swiftly bring them into a vulnerable region with the aim of seizing the delegacy, ejecting natives, and password locking the region.

Our invasions would be different from that in a number of ways. First we talk to the regional authorities and get their permission/workout how the invasion will go in broad terms. Second we move only non-WA nations into the targeted region. Third instead of ejecting natives, we play our invasion out all over their RMB with the natives. It's fun for everyone and at the end of the day, Mordor leaves victorious having destroyed our enemies and forcing them to surrender to our might (or we retreat in inglorious defeat). Then we plan our next invasion.

I don't know what that actually entails.

First and foremost: welcome!

To answer your question, the RMB is the regional message board. Essentially, participants would move their nation into the targeted region and act as invaders via the RMB.
