Its a Fine day here at Hecht Tennis Center as we are reaching the end of the 1st round matches. Weather was cloudy most of the morning though winds were calm and its expected to clear up till 2pm Winner & 2nd Round Match Ups can be found Bellow :tennis1: ![]() :tennis1: ![]() A great start for Georgy Rommel from NeoPacificus who dominated the match against Issac Bumup from Herzil. Although BumUp (a left hand) gained his first game point while giving a killer 183kmh sliced serve to the corner & surprising Rommel (a right handed) who simply docked. Rommel it seems learned fast, and was able to return all the following serves. Once Rommel gained a sense of Bumup weakness he used it to his advantage, Rommel won over BumUp 6:1 6:3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was a difficult start for Simon Serves from Klopstock, who tried to take his opponent weak forehands and use it to his advantage, getting a quick match. Instead he found himself struggling getting the upper hand. As Geoff Cabsha from 3lit3 - while an average hitter - had a remarkable angle control. Serves found himself more than a dozen times running to the left/right corners of the box to counter Geoff top spin drop shots. Serves finally won 3:6 6:4 6:4 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A long match was seen between Captain Jean Luc Picard from Trecdom2 and Jaroff Pengui from Penguin Dictators . Two and a half hours of strong aggressive hits that only demonstrated they both go to the Gym often. Ida Spachtel, writer of the Tennis column “Your Ball, My Court” who was among the audience ,Stated she had an hard time staying awake :“ There was no technique, just who gets to hit harder & if it wasn’t for Pengui epic failure "balls" hit, I would have probably left”. ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thought not the best match today - Edward McGinnis from have with it fun has graced us with another outburst when the judge ruled ball out ![]() when he had the upper hand at (Advantage) 5:4 in the 2nd set. A down the line ball that should have granted McGinnis a sure win over Harry Carter from his home town - turned out to be a fatal game extension. Suffices to say this wasn't the first time he threw a Hissy fit, as the tennis world still remember his meltdown 12 years ago....... ...... Never the less he was able to get his actions in order landing a win with 6:4 7:5~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Daniella Libmilch from Herzil had an easy match against Guinan from Star Trek. Guinan for some unknown reason decided to wake up with two left feet. Throughout the match she was un prepared for hitting the balls, her standing and positioning forward coming balls lacked any leverage. She was exhausted after just two games, unable to reach & or return Libmilch slow pace cross court shots. Libmilch won 6:2 6:0 over her opponent. truly a shameful performance by Guinan.*** 2nd round will start at 4pm and will be extended till 10pm *** |

I'm quite pleased to see that both the Witch-King and Durthag are representing Malkir and Mordor well, having won both their rounds. I hope to see the rest of the Mordor delegation live up to this standard. |

Something must be in the air today as the 2nd Round matches just kept getting weirder and somehow more violence...... Our first player to break her racket today was Durthag from Malkir Who played against Anna “LilTexina 61” Kournikova from NewTexas. While trying to Counter A strong backhand left corner cross court shot from kournikova, she was able to touch the ball for a second before her racket took A “Head Spin” and De-touched from the handle. ![]() Unfortunately to Kournikova, it had no impact on Durthag gaming. Durthag with a rather Aggressive and calculated shots was able to take the match winning 6:3 6:1 :tennis1: Another violent accident came from the "Men Department", when Denis Krkic from Galicia-Volhynia started the 3rd game 3rd set with a strong brush of the ball serve which due to the speed of the ball (184kmh).... ... his opponent: Jarl Halo from Solskin was unable to give a good return, Halo Racket met the ball in an angle that made the ball sprung outside the court, in the umpire seat direction and hit one of the personals. ![]() Krkic was able to dominate the 3rd set with mostly Approach Volley shots, winning the Match 6:3 4:6 6:1 If we didn't know better one would have thought Cirque Du Soleil was in town..... Eldbur Polcer from Wintermoot received 4 Penalized points throughout the 1st set. One during her first game when she hit the opening Serve, getting an Ace and decided to finger her opponent, Martuska Edina from Scepez. 2nd and 3rd Penalized points came when she was frustrated after Edina was able to reach two consecutive slow pace drop shots to the corner net. Her last Penalizing point came when she won the 1st set 6:2 and decided to open with a we are the champions dance..... Which elevated the score from 6:2 to 6:3.Unfortunately Penalty or No Penalty points, Edina, was unmatched to Polcer tactics which made her stop to catch air so often and she was unable to counter Polcer fierce Aggressive Court Shots. ** With 22 Matches to go It is expected that Round 2 Winners and Tomorrow 3rd Round Match Up's will be published around 9pm *** |

While there were no highlights in the 3rd round it is worth mentioning that, some as promised continue to demonstrate great control in their matches. Erin Barker from United Tributational Territories while she had some struggle in the first set, proving who’s the boss & barely winning it 7:5. ![]() She did dominated the 2nd Set, finishing the match against Cassandra Iecana from Elici 7:5 6:3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Daniella Libmilch from Herzil who won last night 2nd Round match against Annemijn van der Wolde from Shy Guyia, found herself in a pickle when she met her 3rd round opponent Lt Cdmr. Jadzia Dax from Trecdom. Dax gave an hefty attacks which can be seen in the score. Instead of an easy win, Dax lured Libmilch into a 3 set match. Libmilch will get the pleasure of playing against Erin Barker in the Quarter Finals this afternoon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Romelo Remostas from Wintermoot gave a great show against The Witch-King from Malkir. After struggling yesterday in his 2nd round against Erik Magnussen from The Arendellenske Union. Yet he was able to regain his confidence once again, taking The Witch-King in a clean 2 sets : 6:3 6:1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Another Clean Cut game was demonstrated by Dmitry Abakumov from Tzarsgrad when playing against Hector Ist Astarte from NeoPacificus. Abakumov although not a shinning star when it comes to baseline attacks, did use any chance he got to go up - the net, a place he clearly felt comfortable in – countering almost all attacks by Astarte which resulted in Winning 6:2 6:0 *** The Quarter Finals will start at 5pm and are expected to end around 8:30. *** ** Winners, Matchups for the Semi Finals & Highlights of the QF will be published around 9pm ** |

Svantepolk Goatherder could hardly believe his luck succeeding in the match with Ted Willoughs! His total training time this year had equalled 6 x 3 hours (by which time the local tennis courts had always been snowed in again). He is weighing an initiative at the Solskin Tennis Association for more indoors courts though. The incident at the Denis Krkic match with his ball hitting the umpire threw Jarl Halo out of his usual boisterous mood. Before re-joining the crowd in the pub, for an alcohol free beverage this time, he presented the accidental target a letter of apology and well-wishes with a small gift box containing a pair of cufflinks. ![]() Interviewed about her slow motion performance in her encounter with Diane Rivers, Grimhildr Clair de Lune somewhat mysteriously commented that she was 'not yet fully adjusted to daylight tennis'.
