A thread to talk about Webcomics.

Since I started using the internet regularly I often found myself surprised at the quality of the material put out there, often competing with professional material quite favourably.

However without a doubt westward is the best webcomic, or for that matter comic I ever read. Set, oddly enough, on the recent past, Westward tells the tale of earth's first faster-than-light spaceship. It's mostly a character driven plot notable for it's complexity, as well as the fact that it updates every week day.

For more info here is the TV troupes page: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Webcomic/Westward

Here is the comic itself: http://westwardcomic.com/index.php

I encourage everyone to check it out and share opinions here, alternately tell us about your favourite webcomic

Can't say I really follow online comics so don't really have much to offer on a discussion. I never really bought paper magazine comics either.

What am I missing out on?

My - there's quite a few webcomics I read. I'm not familiar with westward, I'll try it out.

But they fall into several genres, depending on level of humor, level of story, general story background/genre, and update speed. The ones I read run the gamut, or close to it.

I'll thin my list down to a managable few, and post them here later. ;)

Never really got into them. I suppose the ones I have read most of have been explosm (if I got that right :S ) and that was mainly because they were at the bottom of regional updates. :P

I love different ones for different reasons.

Something Positive for humor

Goblins for general badassery and story

Those are my two favorites, both update quite often and regularly and both keep my interest well. Of course I read way to many...

I keep up with four different web comics. Looking For Group, Girls with Slingshots, Least I Could Do, and Scandinavia and the World. I also enjoy the order of the stick, and Meek (i think that's the title).

I strongly recommend Schlock Mercenary. Daily updates, over a decade of strips - the author has NEVER missed an update.

NEVER. This man knows how to work ahead.

I read quite a few.
mspaintadventures.com does a great job. He has 1 finished story (Problem Sleuth) and one that is still going on (Homestuck).
Homestuck usually has multiple updates every day, though there have been large breaks (days/weeks) between updates before, though that usually means we get something awesome at the end of the wait.
I also read Order of the Stick (giantitp.com), Dr. Mcninja (drmcninja.com), Cucumber quest (cucumber.gigidigi.com)
Order of the stick updates sporadically
Dr. Mcninja updates almost every monday, wednesday, and friday
Cucumber quest updates 3-4 times a week
I have read 8-bit theater (Nuklearpower.com) which is a finished web series that follows the story of the First Final Fantasy game. It's a great read.

Mordor's White Rapper Wizard
Adventures in Gay on Tumblr. I'm straight, and I find them funny. So I imagine they'll be amazing if you're that way inclined.

I read a ton..

Questionable Content
XKCD
Table Titans
Goblins
PvP
DnDorks(although he hasn't posted anything new in a few months and hasn't explained why)
Darths and Droids (Humorous following of the Star Wars movies as if it were actually a DnD campaign)
Full Frontal Nerdity

I'm always looking for more. I tried Westward, but something about the colors and the way it was drawn hurt my eyes.

No one has mentioned Girl Genius? Really? Phil and Kaja Foglio RULE, I tell you.

Freefall, one of the most quotable comics I know on the web.
"What's the minimum safe distance for ignorance?"

And once again, with linkage: Schlock Mercenary ELEVEN YEARS without a missed update of daily sci-fi humorous mayhem. Cannot recommend this one highly enough.
