Hey ladies. I know this is going to be a popular thread soon. I really want to watch it, but I'm trying to budget this summer and I'm getting rid of cable TV and watching stuff off my Roku or computer. Anyway I can still watch this without purchasing Starz (it is Starz right?)? Thanks. |

Not sure - we didn't have Starz last year and the only way I could watch the Spartacus series was through my sister because she had it. Maybe through On Demand, but with a fee? I know the Sons of Anarchy series is On Demand, but you have to pay to view it. Maybe something similar. |

I'm counting down... "Starz will debut the premiere episode of new drama “Outlander” one week before its official airdate with a multiplatform preview, CEO Chris Albrecht announced Friday at the Television Critics Assn. summer press tour. The cabler will give approximately 82 million multichannel video households free access to the premiere episode, “Sassenach,” beginning August 2. Viewers will be able to watch the first episode via linear, on-demand and online sampling, through cable, satellite and telco affiliates in the U.S., and online through Starz.com’s Outlander page, the official “Outlander” Twitter page, Starz’s YouTube and Facebook pages and the Starz Play app. The show will have its worldwide TV premiere on Aug. 9 at 9 p.m." |

It's so appropriate that the premiere is on my wedding anniversary.

LMAO! Sam H. looked very cute at the San Diego Comic Con panel. I think they're going to post it online to view. I really like his hair. I don't think it's period correct on the show, but it looks good on him. |

I can not wait for eppy #2. The first eppy was awesome & I loved it. Visually, it was stunning & looked amazing. I felt like the casting has been pretty spot on so far. I like Caitriona as Claire. Sam H. as Jamie has intrigued me so far. I can't wait to see more of him--literally He is a cutie. The same actor playing Frank & Black Jack is a great idea. He freaks me out already. I feel like the book has been pretty well followed so far.

I truly loved the first episode. I'm glad it didn't just focus on the early parts of the book and that we were in the 1800s by mid-episode. I LOVED Jamie - I loved his expressions, his playfulness, his seriousness. Did you hear him cry out "Tulach Ard" before the ambush. Made me smile. The attention to detail was really well done - from the language, the scenery, the sets. To recreate the 1940-50s AND 18th century Scotland was quite a feat. I loved the flashbacks (forwards?) that Claire had of her tour through Scotland with what she remembered with Frank and where she was with Jamie. It really drove home the differences. I'm really excited to see where this series goes. The casting is so well done. And their chemistry is already apparent on screen. |

Yeah, I agree about the timing. I'm glad Claire went back in the first eppy. I didn't want to see too much of Frank Honestly, I can't remember how much of the 1st book spends on the future/current/1940s time. Like you said, I like how they summed it up in the first episode. And played up on the mysteriousness of the Highlands, which helps suspend the belief that falling through time in Craigh Nu Dun was a crazy mystery.I loved how we first saw Jamie. When Claire enters the crofter's hut & she's being questioned by Jamie's peeps, and you can see Jamie in the background in front of the fire holding his arm. That's exactly how I pictured that scene in the book. I loved when he swings down from his horse and you can see all his outfit ![]() I'm glad they showed the scene where Frank sees the ghostly Jamie figure is staring up at Claire brushing her hair in the window. I always liked that scene in the book. |

Wasn't that "ghost" scene eerie? I paid attention to the details in that scene - Jamie's coat being dry in the rain storm, his kilt not moving in the wind...when the lights went out, it was a nice touch. It creeped me out just a little bit. Was that scene every explained or is that still coming from DG? The kilts are interesting. I'm used to seeing them in Braveheart, not long in the back. |
