We watched the Last King of Scotland last night. Oy - intense movie. It was difficult for me to stomach all the violence. |

I watched Atonement last night. I thought the film was beautifully done. The bedroom scene where Briony finally sees Cecilia and Robbie again was intense. Great acting by Keira in that scene. The scene where Briony sees her cousin get married was maddening. I liked it - but it was as infuriating as the book. I left it so angry with Briony, the cousin, Marshall....How dare they! All of the 'could have beens' were heartbreaking. I teared up watching Cecilia and Robbie playing around at the beach. |

Finally saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It was just ok - didn't think it measured up to the first 3. Started out good but there was just something missing - mostly the sarcasm. I missed Sallah (John Rhys-Davies) the most. Shia LeBouf's character wasn't a good substitute. Definitely Maybe - I remember wanting to see this when it came out. Glad I didn't pay to see it. Oh so boring. I think the premise was decent but How I Met Your Mother does a much better job of what this movie was trying to do. I did like the cast - that was the only thing that kept me watching. Iron Man - Great movie! Wasn't sure what to expect going in, but now I can't wait for the sequel.Made of Honor - sure, it's your typical romantic comedy but it was absolutely adorable. Took most of the movie to figure out that that was Kadeem Hardison as Patrick Dempsey's best friend. |

My sister loved Definitely Maybe. I have it in my TBW list, but haven't gotten around to it. I thought Made of Honor was completely adorable! And I LOVE Ironman! |

Saw Seven Pounds this weekend. It was good but really depressing. Will Smith was terrific (he usual is). I figured out what happened and what his character was planning pretty early on. Only 2 twists I didn't see coming. |

Gran Torino - Classic Clint Eastwood, good storyline. It made me think of my aunts and uncles - very set in their ways, but people you could definitely learn from if you take the time. |

Mike and I saw Step Up 2 the Streets over the weekend. Good movie - not great. I love the hip-hop routines and seeing some of the groups from America's Best Dance Crew. Love the Jabbawockeez |

I kind of want to see Taken, but I was afraid it would be more gore/horror than action thriller. Slumdog Millionaire is really good. Can see why it is a front runner for Best Picture - though the ending seems a little too sweet for Academy tastes. Now I want to see Benjamin Button in order to compare. |

I thought it would be more horror-thriller too. But the only real scary part was when she's taken. The rest is pretty much all action. The ending fell a little flat for me, but I still enjoyed it. |

I'm trying to clear out my DVR'd movies before we move... Saw "Notes on a Scandal." Really liked it. This was a great drama. Judi Dench & Cate Blanchett were really good. Saw "Elizabeth: The Golden Age." Did not like it. Too fluffy & historically inaccurate for me to like. But Cate Blanchett still kicks butt as an actress. |

Slumdog Millionaire lived up to all of the hype. Great movie. I was a little nervous going into it though. One of the guys that I carpool with is from India. When he and his wife watched it, she had to walk out of the theater because it was too real for her. So I was a little nervous about what I would see. The actress in that movie, IMO, is gorgeous. And the young boy that played Jamal as a child stole the movie for me. He was wonderful! |
