We saw "This is It." Loved it! Totally awesome! MJ's voice was great. Can't believe he was doing such kick-ass dancing at age 50. I liked the format for the movie & all the singing & dancing. I love the brief dance audition part. It is still hard to believe MJ is gone.

We watched Angels and Demons over the weekend. I actually really liked it. It deviates a little from the book, but for the most part stayed true to the story IMO.

I'm still not big on Tom Hanks in the role, but the way the screen play was written was well done.

We also re-watched Tristan and Isolde. I didn't like it the first time around because no one had a happy ending, but really enjoyed it every time I re-watched it. This time around, I think I just LOVED James Franco in the role of Tristan. I think he's my new #1 favorite. LOL! It's one of my new favorite romances.

Watched Star Trek over the weekend. I thought it was pretty good. Well written. well cast and great action sequences. Loved the little nod to the Alias fans (red matter - HA), but surprisingly the movie as whole was less "Alias in Space" than I expected (MI3, JJ's first movie should have been Alias, the movie).

After seeing all the sneak peaks and previews for Sherlock Holmes this weekend, I'm trying to figure out how to get out of the family dinner so I can go see it Christmas Day.

Yay Tristan & Isolde! I really like that movie. That movie first made me fall in love with Henry. *sigh* (and, I like JF too :-)

I never watched the show Sex and the City so I wasn't really all that interested in watching the movie. My sister, who also didn't watch the show, did watch the movie and told me that it was a good chick flick and to tape it the next time it aired on TMN. It's airing tonight so I'll tape it.

I did see a few movies in the past couple of weeks:

Obessed - awful

Confessions of a Shopaholic - it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but it was kind of disappointing. Why did it take place in the U.S??

Doubt - fantastic movie. At the end when Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman's character go head-to-head, WOW - acting at its best. It's a great movie to discuss. Did he really do it? This was a play first and I read that the before the actor took on the role, he was told whether or not the priest actually molested the boy(s). And the actor was to play the character with that knowledge. Same with Philip Seymour Hoffman....interesting.

Frost/Nixon - really good. I'm surprised I liked this one - I thought it would bore me.

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past - Blech! Some moments were cute, but for the most part - boring!

The Blind Side - LOVED this movie! Great feel good film. I didn't realize it was a true story until I saw it. Very cool. I was really surpised at how much I enjoyed Sandra Bullock in her role.

I watched Sex and the City. I have never seen the show and had no idea what any of their stories were but I really enjoyed the movie - and I got so emotional on some of the scenes!

I enjoyed that movie much more than I thought I would.
I enjoyed the show when it was on, but thought it would more or less be the same thing.
I actually really liked Charlotte a lot in the movie. I loved how she stood up to Big whenever she got the chance

Question about Sex and the City: why was he named "Mr. Big"? Or was it for the perverted reason I'm thinking of?

This is what I found on wikipedia. :)

The writers claim that the use of a moniker instead of an actual name was a symbol for the character's emotional unavailability. As long as we didn't know his name, we could never really know what is inside of him. In the end of the series, as Carrie walks off into the New York jungle, Big's real name is revealed to the audience as he calls Carrie about his move back to New York from California. His name appears on Carrie's cell phone as John.
