New Moon - much better than Twilight. Though the sparkles still needed help (doesn't help that I find that part of SM's vampire creations extremely silly). Crazy Heart - Pretty good. Jeff Bridges has a good voice but the ending felt a little too neat and tied up. The Tale of Despereaux - beautiful animation but it was slooooowwww. I fell asleep. Eat Pray Love - I actually liked it. I really think the supporting cast made the movie. The India section was lots easier to get through. |

Remember Me - storyline was okay - didn't dig the ending. Too soon for that. Loved seeing RP without the pasty white make-up. He looks much better that way. I also enjoyed seeing his sarcastic side more in this film. It suits him more than the Edward seriousness of Twilight. I've always enjoyed him in interviews because he's so much more engaging and humorous - and I saw more of that in this character. It's good to see that difference. She's Out of My League - usually not my kind of movie, but I liked it! I thought it was pretty funny. |

I watched Couples Retreat too. That was only okay for me. Some funny moments, but nothing more. |

The Invention of Lying was great. A few people recommended it to me. I found the quirky humor hilarious. Ricky Jarvis was great as Mark. |

I've seen a few movies the past few weeks. The Blind Side: I liked it. Did Sandra Bullock deserve the Oscar? Not really Nine: Beyond awful. But my sister really liked it.... Precious: Really good. And Monique? Wow. Everyone was amazing. Did Monique deserve the Oscar? Definitely. Love Happens: I liked it. But thought it was really sad. Couples Retreat: Didn't laugh once Old Dogs: Disney should stick to animation Up in the Air: It was good. Did it deserve all that hype? I don't think so The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus: I actually really liked this movie. It's a bit weird and it took me a little awhile to get into it, but in the end, I thought it was very entertaining Sherlock Holmes: Really enjoyed this movie. I loved Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law together The Princess and the Frog: I loved this movie!! On my list to buy. |

Agree with you with Up in the Air. It was good - but I thought it was going to be over the top fantastic. Not so much. I'm nervous to watch Precious - I don't like "mean" movies. But everyone who saw it said it was really good.Need to see Princess and the Frog. I have Sherlock Holmes but that's the kind of film where i really have to pay attention, and I can't seem to focus when watching it |

I saw Up in the Air in the theaters before the hype. My friend and I went in wanting to see another movie, but it was sold out. I loved it! I feel the same way as you, Mary, about Precious. It breaks my heart b/c I know this stuff happens to teens, and don't want to think of any of my students go through stuff like that. Sherlock Holmes is great!!! I really want to see Up. |

Loved the movie adaptation of Shutter Island. I thought it stayed true to the book. |

I liked Sherlock Holmes after the first 30 minutes - all the set up/back story slowed it down. The Soloist - great acting by both Jamie Fox and Robert Downey Jr but the story took too long to get where it was going. Maybe it was the DVD but the sound was horrible - I kept having to turn up the volume to understand what was being said. Shutter Island - really good and it stayed pretty true to the book. Except maybe that last scene. The book was more vague - now I get why there was a lot of debate about it. The one thing that got me was the awful green screen work - especially in the boat scenes at the beginning. I expected better of a Scorcese movie. |
