I watched The Last Song yesterday. The movie was pretty good - almost an exact replica of the book. Of course it helps when the author of the book writes the screenplay. And that he wrote the book with Miley Cyrus in mind to play the lead character in the movie. |

Finally made it all the way through Invictus. It's a good story and very well acted but a bit dry. Not one to watch if you're tired. |

Step Up 3 - horribly cheesy plot line, however the dancing was off the hook. Definitely worth a watch just for that. |

Easy A - decent. I really like Emma Stone as a young actress. Life As We Know It - okay. Nothing spectacular. Josh Duhamel is so nice on the eyes. |

LOL - ITA about Step Up 3. Incredible choreography, but awful storyline. Loved seeing some of the SYTYCD alum. |

Prince of Persia was really good. Doesn't hurt that Jake Gyllenhall looked real yummy. ![]() Serenity (movie following the Firefly television series) was great! Firefly got canceled after one season, but I watched the whole season and movie on Netflix Instantly Viewable. After The English Patient, I'm really looking forward to The Fighter. |

Inception - awesome movie...going to have to buy this one. Lots of twists and turns that I didn't exactly see coming. I know there's been debate about the end - I think the spinner was going to fall. It's a few years old, but I finally saw Australia this weekend. I *heart* Baz Luhrman movies. They're always so...pretty (even Romeo + Juliet...and that is my very least favorite Shakespeare play). Partially why I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with The Great Gatsby. Anyway...the story lacked a little in some places and dragged in others but overall it was likable. With 2 1/2+ hours of Hugh Jackman, it could have been the flimsiest story ever and I still would have watched the whole thing. It was a little strange to see David Wenham as the bad guy. |

Saw War with Jet Li over the weekend. Good movie, until the end. Very anti-climatic. |

I have been loving seeing Henry Cavill on entertainment news now that he is the new Superman. Sigh. His movie, The Immortals (Greek god epic ala "300"), is finally being released in November. He shot this movie years ago & it looks like it finally got picked up because he is becoming bigger with his Superman role. |

The King's Speech was a fantastic movie. I don't always agree with Oscar winners, but this movie definitely deserved it. And Colin Firth was fabulous as well. I 100% recommend this one. Black Swan's arriving today, so I'll get to it tonight or tomorrow. |

Black Swan is psychologically intense. Natalie Portman was brilliant in it. Oh I also saw Thor on its release night in IMAX 3D. It was great! I don't find Chris Hemsworth hot, but Thor is drool worthy. lol. The 3D wasn't worth it, but this is a definite buy for me when it's out on DVD. |

Over the long weekend, I caught up on the movies I had taped. I saw Charlie St.Cloud -- It was ok - interesting little twist to it The Kids Are All Right -- It was ok - I was hoping to like it a lot more but maybe I was expecting too much Shrek Forever After -- It was ok - better than the 3rd movie but they have to stop making these movies How to Train Your Dragon -- Loved this one! Polytechnique -- Not sure what word to use to describe this one....fascinating? I don't know if you'll ever be able to catch this one but if you do, watch it. It's a dramatization of the Montreal Massacre of 1989 where several female engineering students were murdered by an unstable misogynist. He walked into the school with a machine gun, entered an engineering class, told the men to leave the room and then proceeded to kill the women (because to him "feminists" shouldn't be engineers). After shooting them all, he then roamed the school targetting all the women and shooting them to kill. He then killed himself. The movie is a recount of the events based on the accounts of a male witness and one of the female victims who survived. I had started to watch it and couldn't stop - it was just amazing - in a very horrific way - to watch. As I'm watching I'm wondering why no one is taking out their cell phones to call the police and then remembered - it was 1989 - no one had cell phones back then. I don't really remember when this happened (I was only 12) but I knew it happened. The families of the victims who had died had watched the movie first and then gave their blessing to have the movie released. The movie was just gripping... |
