LOL! Thanks for telling me that, cuz I had no idea there was a difference. I think I'd probably like the EE version better.

I am liking ROTK so far. As usual I can't wait to see Aragorn. I'm not that far into it, but can't wait to keep reading.

I'm doing great. Taking long cuz I'm reading romances at the same time.

I'm more than halfway done. I don't think I'm gonna read the appendices at the end--they look a little too crazy for me.

What I'm doing right now, is asking everyone I know if they have LOTR on DVD for me to borrow. A neighbor has the first, but it's not the Extended Edition.

Getting through the battle stuff was a little tough for me. And, I gasped when I thought Eowyn was dead. I'm about to start the next Part going back to Frodo & Sam.

I only read the parts that interested me in the appendices. I wanted more of Aragorn's history and his relationship to Elrond and Arwen.

Of course, I tried to find more info on Eowyn and Faramir - but that was fairly scarce.

I read a few things on Legolas and Gimli....

Well, last week I finally accomplished my goal and finished reading the series.

Overall opinions: I liked the story a lot. I wish there were more female characters though. It amazes me that Tolkien's imagination and fantasy rendering was so vivid and descript. I am in awe of that. Of course, Aragorn was my favorite character, then maybe Eowyn. I liked Gandalf too.

I read some of the appendix--about Aragorn and Arwen.

I swear, the map of Middle Earth is forever inscribed onto my brain ;-) I kept looking at it over and over again during my reading.

This is one of those tales that I would love to pass onto my child. I hope my future child is a LOTR fan :gandalf

It's been denied, but I can't help see the parallels of the story to WWII. It just brings so many layers to the book.

Glad you enjoyed the story GWTW.
