I caught the TNT showing of GWTW over the weekend.

Every time I see it, I think I sympathize with Scarlett a little bit more. (I know, elite, I'm guessin' you disagree? LOL!) Her sister's just piss me off. They're such lazy, despairing whiners! Ugh!

I love Rhett.

Oh it's okay Aragorn.
She hasn't seen LOTR yet, and that's just blasphemy around here. LOL!

The heroine would likely piss you off.
Not sure if you're a history type person - but the setting did so much for me. Oh - and Rhett Butler of course.

Maybe you should give the movie a shot. If you hate the first hour, then you can just turn it off. I had seen the movie first, then read the book. The book gave me a different view of Scarlett, than the movie. Mainly because it reminded me of how young she was.

LOL A--we'll have to make a pact this year. You read & watch GWTW, I'll finish reading LOTR and watch the movies.

I saw that GWTW was on TNT. I hate watching it with commercials, so am much happier whipping out my DVD.

Mary has a good suggestion--since the movie is so long, watch it in increments. That's usually what I recommend to first-timers. Same with the book--it is pretty long.

The book and movie are different in the details, but the main story & characters are pretty true.

For Oscar month, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is airing GWTW on Sunday Feb 25th at 2:00 pm. If you've never seen it, here's your chance. And completely commercial free. Also, the intermission is included in case you need a break.

Do you watch it when it's on television GWTW?

Whenever LOTRs is on, I always watch it on TNT - even though I own the DVDs. LOL!

Finishing the movie now...

My god...Clark Gable is amazing in this role...he is Rhett Butler. He's got beautiful eyes and a wonderful smile.

As for the movie, there were some minor discrepancies, but it was ok. The movie definitely did a good job of capturing the book. There definitely weren't enough scenes between Rhett and Scarlett. I think the book u realize Scarlett falling for Rhett more...in the movie it sneaks up on you. Overall it was good.

Yay A--I'm so glad you finally finished both the book and movie.

OMG, I've been obsessed with Clark since I was 10 years old, as you can tell from my website. My fave role for him will always be Rhett Butler.

Yeah, definitely some discrepancies in the movie. And, even after the movie is already freakin' 4 hours long! They just couldn't fit more into it. But, it does a pretty good job being faithful to the book.

A--what did you think of Vivien Leigh/Scarlett in the movie? Was her pining for Ashley less/more annoying for you? What about Melanie's character? Did you think Olivia de Havilland portrayed her well?
