Howdy!
Anyone else seeing the midnight show Thurs/Fri this week? I wasn't planning on it, but my sister - who doesn NOT read books (strictly newspapers & magazines) read the entire series in 5 days & then started re-reading it! She wants me to go with her, so we'll be there, probably surrounded by giddy teenyboppers. Pretty funny -- she's Team Edward, her 14-year-old daughter is Team Jacob. I've never seen my sister so wound up about a book. :nerd

We're getting together at a girlfriend's house to re-watch Twilight.
Then Starbucks run before getting in line at 10 pm with our books to pass the time.

All dressed in our Team Edward shirts. LOL!

It's a tradition. We did it for LOTR too. :)

And here I am thinking I am way too old to go out & grab a Team Jacob shirt (Dang, I wish I were 20 years younger!!! hee hee hee). Maybe I'll rethink this!! My sister, the former non-reader, has read the series twice and is on round 3, just finishing up New Moon again yesterday.
:love luv me some J.B. sigh.

Loved loved LOVED the movie!
If you're Team Jacob, oh my, it's hard not to fall in love with him. He is absolutely gorgeous in this movie. Helllloooo Mr Black with your perfect abs and well sculpted shoulders.

I have lots to say about the storyline, but definitely 4 stars for me!! Love that it's no longer a low budget film. LOL!

Yea! Jacob was gorgeous! And a nice fella, to boot. I was crushed for him at the end, though, even though I knew how it would end, I was still ticked off. Loved it. Was tons of fun going with my sis & friends. Had a blast. Will have to see it again soon!

The year of the wolf. :wink

A few of us took the day off Friday and saw the afternoon show. We avoided most of the teenybopper crowd, though Team Jacob was definitely in the house. Lots of cheering and clapping when he fist appeared on the screen...and lots of squeals when he first whipped off his shirt!

I have to say, though, I do not disagree with them. Young Taylor really transformed himself and he was hawt! Wowza. :flirty I also think he did a spectacular job with his character. He exuded the perfect mix of sweetness, vulnerability, anger, even bitterness that is Jacob Black to a T. TL outshone RB and Jacob outshone Edward. (Yes, I am seriously considering revising my Team Edward stance! Well...at least for the movie versions.)

TL did such an outstanding job that this weekend I read through New Moon again, so I could appreciate Jacob better. I have always liked Jacob, but it was hard to appreciate him the first time, when I was too busy saying 'WTH, where is Edward?' and 'NO Bella, Edward will be back!' On this second read, I was like, 'Hmmm, poor Jacob, such a good friend, such a sweet smile, he deserves a chance.' lol

Anyway, back to the movie. I enjoyed it so much more than I did Twilight. (Mary, I've read your blog and I agree with everything you said!) They did a much better job of translating this book to film than they did the first — I am sure that budget, director, and screenwriter had a ton to do with it (can this current crew remake Twilight? Pretty please?). I also feel that KS and TL's acting skills improved by leaps and bounds, although I still get slightly annoyed with KS' halting speech patterns. Wish I could say the same for RB. I think he did a better job in the first movie. (And damn it RB, shed your British notions and hit the gym already! I want my beautiful, sculpted Edward.)

I loved how they overlapped and connected threads of the book into action-packed sequences that actually added another element to the story while also staying true to the novel, i.e., Harry's heart attack, the wolves chasing Victoria, Bella's cliff diving, etc. montage. Impressive. In Twilight, I felt like even though they condensed the scenes, they also tried to place the novel word-for-word on the screen, when they should have reinterpreted instead — which only helped to make the film come off as very cheesy. Not to say there wasn't a cheesy moment or two in New Moon...but it was nothing like Twilight. <insert a second plea for Twilight to be remade>

Oh yeah, I still have a problem with Edward's very red lips. Ugh.

But Jacob's physique made up for it all.

And I just really enjoyed the movie.

I'd love to see a re-make of Twilight....maybe we'll get it with a screen version of Midnight Sun. LOL!

I agree with your post Vikks. I definitely started to fall for Jacob Black after seeing him onscreen. TL truly brought all elements of his character to life.

And YES, RB needs to hit the gym. If you want me to believe that you can take on the wolves, you better hit the gym. I can live with him being pasty white, but at least look as strong as ivory. He's supposed to resemble a Greek God!

I'm also over his tortured facial expressions. Even when he kisses Bella, there's always a look of torture. I GUESS it could be because he's constantly fighting off the urge to kill her - but still. It came off as way too over done.
