We appreciate the friendship, hard work, and dedication that so many of our Mythwood members have shown over the years, through changing boards and changing staff. The community of Mythwood (and DF in its day) was something that I'd missed, sorely, having forged different and special bonds with each one of you. Kilik's revitalization of the board, and everyone's activity and encouragement since that fateful email was sent, accomplished what it now appears so many of us aging RPers quietly desired. So, we sit on the precipice of Christmas, and the greater holiday season. Folks will be busy with family, local friends, decorating, feasting, gift-giving, and loving the space around them. Contemplate, and lean in to touch the twinkling lights on your tree, house, a neighbor's house, a stranger's light-up sweatshirt (one or more of these activities may be illegal), and touch the hearts of your fellow persons (this is illegal, even with consent). Dance an eggnog dance - the drunken sort. If you have the time and care to check in with us over the holidays, please post in this topic your season's greetings, and express whatever modicum of love you have for us. As a gift to those who post here before 23:59:59 before January 1st, 2017, you can look in your Mythwood stocking and find a +10 post boost. If you would, tell us what holidays you enjoy this season, and how you and your friends and family celebrate it. I'm dying to know. |

The friends that I've made rping have been some of the truest and best friends in my life. They've helped me improve and grow personally, and the writing itself helped me academically and professionally. DF (and now Mythwood) has had a great positive impact in my life. I never guessed when a friend drug me to DF to help jump start her crazy little race called the A'ni that it would become what it has. I'm glad I did it. I love you all, especially those few of you (you know who you are) that have been so involved in my life. I know I'm not always the easiest person to deal with, especially not back in the day. Thanks for putting up with me. I'm truly grateful. Personally, my holiday has been crazy. I'm currently parked under a tree in a park, having just cleared another call, writing yet another report, when I check in and saw this topic. I had to take a minute and write in my deep appreciation for the friends I've made, and my hope that I can make even more now. I look forward to what crazy stories we come up with. It's always a wild ride with y'all. I'm working Christmas. My family is used to it, we're all in law enforcement. These last few days have been stressful enough to rival any other in my career. Even though I haven't had time to write, it's nice to have a world to escape to for just a minute in my head, planning my next post, getting my thoughts together to expand on the lore of Askival a bit, and so on. Monday will be my families Christmas. Monday night I'm going to get fucked up and burn off some of this stress. Merry Christmas everyone. I hope it's filled with joy, peace, love, family, and friends. Now back to my paperwork. |

Keep it short, but embellish

I'm a little worn out, as is usual for the holidays. Currently I'm sitting at the dining room table in my sisters house, waiting for the rest of the family to show up. Of course, as usual at any rate, I'm here. Often times we wander from home, sometimes we come back. I've personally found that no matter where I live or where I am, home has always been here with you lot. While I do find comfort in the sweet smells of chocolate chip cookies in the oven intermingling with the minty coffee's and the bittersweet smell of eggnog. While I'm currently being entertained by a good show in the background and the constant flickering of the glow of Christmas themed lights, the backdrop of Mythwood is what completes these comforts for me. The holidays may bring us entertainment, unity and joy during the holidays. I find little need when I'm in the literary companionship of friends and members of the board. I do wish you all a Happy Holiday, forgive me if the board isn't as revitalized as we'd all like or remember but I think that I can say with pleasant satisfaction that I've already gotten my present for Christmas, A reunion of each and everyone of your company is more than I can ask for. Knowing I've brought the joys of Mythwood back to ya'll is even more so joy inducing. Pretty soon, we'll be enjoying a family tradition of opening a single present at the strike of midnight before we await the nephew and nieces expectation of Santa in the early morning. Tricking these guys is getting a little harder every year and pretty soon, we'll have to convince grandpa to pose in a santa suit early in the morning while they watch in amazement as Ole' Saint Nick distributes a present to each and eat his complimentary cookies on the way out as our grandfather did for us. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS. (Also, Luthe, 20017 you say? I'd like to be rewarded by 2017... o.O) Edited by Kilik, Dec 24 2016, 09:17 PM.

Hah. Both my parents and I are atheists, so we don't do anything for Christmas. When I was a kid we celebrated Winter Solstice, put up a fake evergreen tree with ornaments and Sun at the top (not a 5-pointed star, as that was used as a Christian symbol, but a Sun with a face and 8 little squiggly lines radiating out from it) and we did gifts as usual. This year, we're not really doing anything. I think the Winter Solstice shtick was basically so my sister and I wouldn't feel bad for not celebrating Christmas like most of our friends, while keeping it secular. No Santa Claus, of course, but I never cared about that. Anyway, I'm new, I just don't celebrate Christmas, which is why I'm checking Mythwood on Christmas Eve, lol. Sweet, sweet post count boost time Mythwood seems pretty cool, only posted in one real thread so far, but it's fun and interesting and hopefully if I continue to have time I'll stick around for a long time yet.

A bright and merry Christmas Eve to all! I know I haven't had a chance to interact with very many of you, especially not RP-wise, but I am looking forward to joining this wonderful literary family just in time for the New Year! I have been working diligently this past week, learning as much as possible about the world of Requiem's races, history, geography... all in preparation for a headlong plunge into this vibrant world with all of you :D. I grew up celebrating Christmas with my parents and younger brother: taking turns hanging all our crarayon- and popsicle-stick-ornaments that we made at school, helping mom make raspberry jam tarts to leave out for Santa. I know, strange, but no cookies in our family. Actually, if you had ever had the unlucky pleasure of eating any cookie-rock made by my mom, you wouldn't find it so strange! But by the age of 7, my sharp detective skills had wisened up to the fact that Santa's handwriting looked suspiciously identical to Mommy's :$. This year, sadly, my own family is scattered all across the eastern side of the US. However, I am blessed to be surrounded by my boyfriend and his fun-loving siblings, along with their own little rugrats. Something about having little kids around makes all the magic of Christmas come flooding back, no matter how long it's been since you last felt that spark yourself. After all, why else would you find a 28-year-old woman running back and forth through a little apartment, jumping over dining room chairs, laughing and screeching every time another brightly-colored foam dart flies her way? Dodging around corners like some action movie spy, looking for the most opportune moment to pull that Nerf trigger? Somehow, that 6-year-old has far superior aim than I do; not sure if it's the difference in target size, mobility, or if the little dude's just really that skilled! Can't wait to see what other awesome toys they open in the morning. No more projectiles, if I'm lucky XD Well, however the rest of you are spending this most wonderful time of the year, I hope you are having fun, spending time with your friends and loved ones, and staying safe. See you on the RP side soon! ~Nuala |

You know, when I think back on it I'm really surprised I stayed with DF and now Mythwood for as long as I did. I originally didn't plan on staying very long, but you guys ended up leaving such a huge impression on me it was hard to leave. Looking back at it my time on DF and with all you guys ended up shaping my life in a lot of ways. I'm truly grateful for all those experiences I've shared with everyone. So whatever you guys are doing today, whether you celebrate or not, just know you guys will always be like a second family. I hope the holidays all find you and yours well. Cheers to all of you! |

I totally thought I posted last night....That just shows how tired I was I had a short post written and just never hit the reply button So happy holidays to those who may still be celebrating something or other. It's still too damn early for me to think clearly enough to write something more.......meaningful. I don't do gushy emotional well even when I'm not litterally just waking up. But ya know what? I love you guys. Really. Except one or two of you....you know who you are. You know what you did. But the rest of you Assum. Most awesom of awesom things--er people. But THOSE ones....let's tar and feather them for newyears. You know who I mean right? Riiiiiight? Yeah them. (hint there are no one or two guys. Stop being hateful at the holidays! You monsters!) |
