Name:
Douma
Race:
Ghinaari / Sicinese

Gender:
Male

Age:
23

Abilities:

Mage/ Psychic
Fire, Lightning, Arcana

Fighting Style:

Trickster. He uses his abilities in various ways to try and catch the upper hand on his enemies; nimble and quick. He also combines his abilities at the cost of exhausting mana to deal unexpecting blows.

Home:
Alendia

Appearance

Head shape: Oval

Hair: Coarse and straight/wavy hair medium in length. His hair is relatively black with brown highlights bleached from the sun. Though the strands of hair cover it, from a side view, symbols from his native dialect are designed on his scalp. At night, he puts his hair up in a stemmed braid with the tip of it showing a small bushel of hair.

Eyes: Gold.

Nose: Small, broad tipped.

Lips: Dark but lighter than his complexion.

Ears: Shaped from his Human father with a hint of a point from his Elven mother.

Height: 5'4"

Weight: 145 lbs.

Complexion: Olive skin.

Skin type: Smooth, thin skin; veins are visable on the surface.

Clothing and Attire

By day, he is covered head-to-toe in rags protecting himself from the relentless sun. The ragged cloth is wrapped around his arms as the remaining length falls over his hands. He wears a hood that extends a little further than his oval head and a veil that shields his eyes from whipping sands during storms and harsh, sand-slashing winds. This veil tucks into the cloth covering his nose and mouth. His sun-baked leather pants are covered with more rags but lessens as the length of the rags wraps down to his ankles. He often wears sandals, though the feeling of the sand on his bare calased feet gives him some realization of what he is.

At night, his rags come off and the hardened leather is shown. A vest fit tightly around his torso with no sleeves gives allows him to have much free movement, showing his slim but lean body. A sash is worn to hold his shorts that wrap around both legs with free reign. Because of the occasional storms and the means to duck for cover, he also wears shin guards that wrap to the back and come around to the front then back once more.

Personality

Like most Ghinaari, Douma is humble. He moves with his nomadic people, living off what the world gives him, giving tribute and honoring the land that they are forced to stay on.

Though Douma may be humble, he has another side to him. This is due to the constant sense of enemies approaching who come to irradicate him and his people. If word goes around that there are enemies in the area, he joins the raiding party and often is hired as a mercenary. To hide his second life, Douma took up a hobby; glassblowing. Using the power of fire and lightning, Douma has found a way to bend and shape the glass he creates into beautiful designs from pottery to even fashioning homes.

Douma can be crafty when he needs to be, but he tends to play the unknowing fool when scenarios permit.

History

According to the history and Curse of Djinni, a pure bred Ghinaari cannot leave the region. This was the knowledge Douma's mother had when she met his human Sicinese father.

One night, Douma's father came into their village being as rare as his appearance; for his kind RARELY travelled outside their own region. Some time into the night, his father had been drinking the village ale in a local hut and before long, he met his mother. Because Douma's mother was a psychic, she wooed him with words in his drunken stupor in his mind. At first he thought he was hearing things, but like a siren, she beckoned him to her and the two locked eyes.

That night the two embraced one another. The following morning, his father was gone; but that seemed fine to his mother for over the next few months she'd be giving birth to a child of a mixed race.

===========

Two years after giving birth to Douma, his mother perished in some mysterious manner; still baffling the people who knew her well as she was so healthy. Some believed it was the curse of the Djinni for not having a pure-bred child. And so the villagers took him in and raised him... as well as holding the truth from him.

Douma was never truly in a circle with any of his fellow people. Around the age of seven, Douma was isolated. Children his age would not talk to even or even be able to look at him because their parents did not want them to go anywhere near him. It saddened him; feeling this form of rejection from his piers.

A Ghinaari elder, however, did spot him all alone. The elder being well in his seventies walked up to him without hesitation. A child being isolated at his age, not having friends, nor family to really look after his well being caused concern in the elder and so the man gave Douma a chance to be under his wing and at least have one friend in his life.

This sight of the elder befriending the outcast, Douma, caused a crowd. Some were appalled while others felt a sense of concern. Few thought this was a sign of hope rather than an omen.

===================

Over the years, Douma trained with the elder in the magical arts, becoming increasingly more attuned to certain elements; the three being most powerful and flexible to him: Fire, Lightning and Arcana. Douma's skills excelled passed the elder's expectations.

Douma would use his abilities in various ways rather than traditional; one being able to ride the lightning he conjured to glide like the wind. He had also learned that the lightning he released gave him the ability to create glass. And so the elder taught him how to harness and use the glass to his ability. One practice session led him to use shards of glass, pick them up with the energy of Arcana and then have his bursts of fire be the force to fuel the shards into molten projectiles.

Overtime, rather then use this ability for destructive purposes, he found a hobby at the age of thirteen; glassblowing. His unique handling over his powers led him to gain the ability to manipulate and create items to be sold or be utilized freshly created from the environment.

==========

Meanwhile, the Ghinaari elder that watched over Douma realized a truth about him. The boy he took under his wing was the orphaned child and was of a mixed race. Astonished by this revelation, he pushed Douma to new heights with his abilities and pushing him to become a weapon and possible savior of the people. His affinity with Mage spells caused him to be used on various missions by the time he was fifteen; joining hunting parties and becoming the youngest mercenary ever to aid his people. He had become the lethal weapon the elder wanted and still omitted the truth.

==========

Besides the numerous hunts and mercenary jobs, Douma would fall back on his glassblowing and eventually catch the attention of a young girl who was his age; at this time being seventeen. Though her parents forbid her to go anywhere near him, she cannot help but be attracted to this side. She knows of his dark life but does not care; so long as he comes home to her alive. Occasionally, Douma would create pieces just for her and give it to her secretively where she and only she would know where to find it. Her parents would often ask her where she got the pieces, and she would lie to hide that it came from him.

Though it upset him, he knew that she had to lie if she wanted to keep it. The two would continue being together to present day.

==========

Today at the age of 23, Douma still does not know of his true past. Upcoming events will lead to the unraveling of this truth.

Have you completed this?

As I said in the Chatbox, I enjoy his hobby as a glassblower. It's little things like this that make the character stand out in my mind.

What color is his hair? Given his Ghinaari and Sicinese origins, I assume it's brown or black.

You've done an excellent job integrating this character with the world of Requiem. The mention of the djinn curse is another great touch.

I would like to know more about his life growing up. It would make the profile feel a lot more rounded, as we skip directly from birth to modern day. If nothing else, it will give you a feeling for the character. You don't need to know every last thing about him - part of the joy of RPing comes from discovering things you never knew about your characters - but having a solid base that justifies the person he is today is always nice.

Yeah. I still have a some work to do. I thought I did describe his hair. It'll be coarse with black and brown. Brown being feint highlights.

Luthe has given this profile a rating of Complete.

I like the modern Douma. He seems to fit the race like a glove. Because they're both magically gifted, perhaps he and Coelho knew each other, too.
