RETIRED Name: Jerrick Kaliker Gender: Male Race: Barovian Affiliation: Strathmoor, Admiral in the Navy, serving for 23 years and counting. Appearance Height: 6'4" Weight: 205 pounds Age: 38 Hair: http://www.wallsave.com/wallpapers/1024x768/big-boss/53912/big-boss-metal-gear-hd-53912.jpg Similar facial hair and general appearance, except his hair is black and he doesn't have an eye patch or headband. Eye color: Bright Blue Spouse: Alexis Kaliker, Commodore in the Strathmoor Navy. 5'4", black hair, green eyes, age 35. Former pirate, Sicinese. Kids: Three: two boys and one girl, in that order. Ages 17, 15, and 11. His first son, Vincent, is a soldier and already a war hero. His second son, David, is a blacksmith's apprentice. His daughter, Evangeline, helps Jerrick's mother in the Royal Palace, and has a marvelous time doing so. He is close to all of his children now, though he had trouble with his oldest (early in his career he was a workaholic and was rarely home). Parents: Jerrick's father recently passed away, having been a town guard his entire life. His mother, at the age of 62, is still working as a cook in the Royal Palace; she is considered one of the best. Both of his in-laws died long before he had the chance to meet them. Residence: The Kaliker family just moved into a home near the Palace, in the best section of town. They are very happy with their cozy little dwelling. Jerrick's mother lives in the guest room, and takes care of Evangeline when the parents are away. She also decorates, since Jerrick and Alexis would have nautical gear strewn across the walls if they had their way. Attire: Jerrick's colors are always a base of black with dark blue trim, with the symbol of Strathmoor across his chest (be it material or metal), and his rank on his shoulders. When on board a ship he prefers light armor (http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130406153039/assassinscreed/images/1/19/ACB_Cesare_render.png) and his short cutlass. When he's on land, he prefers a more symbolic presence (http://images.wikia.com/assassinscreed/images/5/5e/ACR_MPCrusaderRe.png). Weapon: Strathmoor's Wrath Handle: http://www.swordsswords.com/images/products/detail/Corsair_Cutlass_Barbary_Pirate_Sword_Barbarossa_01.jpg Blade: http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/083/4/7/duel_cutlass_swords_by_blacklizard1971-d4tt07j.jpg Abilities: Coreal, Borea, Arcana His story: Jerrick Kaliker had a good upbringing. Born to a city guard early in his career and a home-maker now looking for a job, money was always tight. His parents tried their best to get him an education, something they never had, and he took to it fairly well. Even as a boy, his fell in love with history. His friends would get sick of listening to him talk about whatever he a read in some old book that day, but his parents never stopped encouraging him. When he was 13 years old, his father received a bad injury from a armed robbery suspect. A sword slash across his left shoulder put him out of commission for months, and even after he healed it wasn't the same. During this time, they had to move into a much worse section of Strathmoor, not far from the slums. Luckily, his mother was able to find work in the palace itself as a cook. This was entirely by luck, as a person who staffed the palace just so happened to be walking by the Kaliker home and smelled Jerrick's mother making a stew. He asked to taste, and immediately hired her. This saved the family, and when the father was allowed back onto the guard as an investigator, things started to look up. Unfortunately, by this time Jerrick had left. At fifteen years of age, he saw an opportunity to help his family. He joined the Navy, and sent whatever he could of his paychecks back home. About a month after, his family sent the money back with a letter telling him of their good fortune. Six months later, he returned home to a joyous welcome, and parents that wanted him to stay. Jerrick had to refuse. He had found his calling. The ocean called him, and tearfully his parents allowed him to return, seeing his passion. He studied navigation, naval history, ship architecture... Every scrap of information he could get his hands one. Soon he was indispensable, and began to rise in rank. After years of hard work and many battles one, he got his own ship. It was small, with a crew of about a dozen, but the little clipper ship was fast as hell, and he loved putting it through its paces. Eventually, he was given a mission to track down a Sicinese pirate by the name of Alexis Broodmoar. She had not harassed any Strathmoor ships, and it wasn't a kill/capture mission, but a recruiting mission. He had caught the attention of the brass, and they wanted to make her a privateer, and possibly even bring her into the fold. She was like nothing Jerrick had ever seen (http://home.intekom.com/CroMagnon/ME3/Jack.jpg), and he was instantly interested in her. Not romantically at first, but as a person. Hell, it took him days to track her down, and she almost got the best of him in a dense fog before intentions were made clear. Every night for a week, the two ship captains met for dinner on each other's vessels. He was able to convince her to sign a privateering agreement, and helped her put down a small mutiny. On the voyage back to Strathmoor, crew members on both sides noticed that the two were spending more and more time together, and within a year and a half, their suspicions were proven true. At the age of 20, Jerrick was married to his first true love, Alexis. The wedding, as most military weddings are, was grand and beautiful. She got pregnant on the honeymoon, and nine months later they had their first child. The first five years of the marriage were rough. When he was home, he was fighting with his wife and trying to spend time with his children, and then she would go off... It wasn't a good situation. His parents would take care of the boy when they both had to leave. Jerrick knew the situation wasn't ideal, but he was getting insane opportunities to do great things and make rank, and he was taking every one of them. The strain reached a breaking point, and Jerrick found himself in a bar, not knowing what to do. An Admiral by the name of Manning found him here, and could read all the signs of a broken man. Now Jerrick had two children to worry about, because he just found out that his wife was expecting... He didn't know what to do. The old Admiral (about 60) sat next to man and damn near ordered him to talk about what was going on. He listened, wise with experience, and told the young man his story. He had always picked his career first. He worked hard his entire life, had many great accomplishments, and was as decorated as a veteran could be. Yet, he considered himself a failure. His children barely knew him, and he them. All were in trouble, one was a murder, and another had died in battle. He had a daughter he had talked to maybe twice before consumption took her at the age of 11. He hadn't even known she was sick. His wives, all three of them, had came and left without him really even caring. In the eyes of the world, he was a success... But he couldn't sleep at night knowing that he had failed as a father and husband. Jerrick took the message to heart, but started patching up what he could. His priorities shifted, and his relationship with his wife and son improved dramatically. The distance from work gave him perspective, and when he was on duty his mind was clear, and his performance increased. He was actually gaining ground faster now, and soon his daughter was born. The joy was cut short by the death of his father soon after, at which point his mother moved in with his family. Not long after, Jerrick was promoted to Admiral, a position he's enjoyed for 4 years now. He's a seasoned warrior, a devoted family man, and a loved leader. Men fight to be under his command, his children are well educated and well rounded, and his wife loves and respects him. Truly, he is happy with his life. Edited by Raphael, Aug 23 2014, 09:43 PM.
