Paredes Air Station 581st Aircraft Control Warning Group Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, PHILIPPINES Elevation: around 600 meters above sea level Location Latitude / Longitude:18°24'11"N / 120°40'0"E 18°24.186'N / 120°40.002'E 18.4031 / 120.6667 http://www.pilotnav.com/airport/airport-41085 Modern Aircraft Control and Warning System of the PAF October 14, 1950 was the date the first aircraft control and warning system equipped with ground radars was activated. The 580th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron organize in Nichols Air Base was initiated with new operation technique that would increase the effectiveness of Philippine Air Defense System. Steps were taken to negotiate with the United States for assistance in establishing radar sites in the Philippines and the United States agreed to support the project. The newly activated 580th Aircraft Control and Warning Group started an intensive program of training for its officers and men in the United States and in Clark Air Base to fill the need for trained technicians who would man the system. In November 1, 1957, the 581st and the 582nd Aircraft Control and Warning Squadrons were activated. The 581st ACWS was stationed in Pasuquin, Ilocos Sur christened as Paredes Air Station in honor of Capt Isidro Paredes who died in a plane crash in England while the 582nd was stationed at Gozar Air Station in Lubang Island, Mindoro named after Lt Jose Gozar who was a WW II PAAC Pilot captured and killed by the Japanese. Three more Radar Units were activated namely: 583rd; 584th and the 585th ACWS. Only the 583 ACWS survived existence and was stationed Parañal Air Station in Jose Panganiban in Camarines Norte named after Lt Restituto Parañal. Paredes Air Station in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte. ive been in that place (tabi) coz my uncle used to drive a dump truck for the mining company. there's a mine (ceramics) there. there's an airstrip there. Ive seen a C130 and Sea Stallion land there too. Edited by Flipzi, Sun Jun 1, 2014 3:33 am.

![]() POSSIBLE BENEFIT WHEN PAREDES AIR STATION IS UPGRADED WITH THE ISRAELI RADAR Coverage over Northwest of Luzon including Pratas Island, which has an airfield and piers. This one is occupied by Taiwan. China has been trying to recover the whole of Taiwan and if Taiwan is taken over by China, this facility poses a great threat to the Philippines and US forces in Luzon.
