By the way, read this; Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is a family of single-seat, single-engine, fifth-generation multirole fighters under development to perform ground attack, reconnaissance, and air defense missions with stealth capability. The F-35 has three main models; the F-35A is a conventional takeoff and landing variant, the F-35B is a short take-off and vertical-landing variant, and the F-35C is a carrier-based variant. The F-35 is descended from the X-35, the product of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program. It is being designed and built by an aerospace industry team led by Lockheed Martin. Other major F-35 industry partners include Northrop Grumman, Pratt & Whitney and BAE Systems. The F-35 took its first flight on 15 December 2006. The United States plans to buy 2,443 aircraft. The F-35 variants are intended to provide the bulk of its manned tactical airpower for the U.S. Air Force, Marine Corps and Navy over the coming decades. Deliveries of the F-35 for the U.S. military are to be completed in 2037. F-35 JSF development is being principally funded by the United States with additional funding from partners. The partner nations are either NATO members or close U.S. allies. The United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, Canada, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Turkey are part of the active development program; Several additional countries have ordered, or are considering ordering, the F-35. ![]() http://theaviationist.com/2013/04/08/skunk-works-jsf-mess/ China Called On Lockheed Martin CEO To Halt Philippines F-35 Jet Fighter Procurement JUN 07 China immediately called on Lockheed Martin Chief Executive Officer. Bruce H. Thonner. They called through the back door channel to halt and block the Philippine government in its plan acquisition and procurement of 12 units F-35 lightning, Joint Strike fighter jets (JSF). This was revealed by our insider at the control and operation assembly plant facility inside Lockheed Martin. The CEO solidly and strictly informed China that they have no rights and jurisdiction to make such orders because it will compromise company’s interest and they cannot follow orders from them or orders from other government. We can only follow orders to our own government, The United States of America. In fact we cannot derail such agreement because it is a G to G policy or government to government arrangement. An approval of US Congress soft loan package is on its way, waiting for immediate signing and implementation. Recently President Barrack Obama made a request to Congress to prioritize the approval of Philippine security defense budget. Meanwhile, with the immediate approval of Philippine Senate bill 1657 amending Section 53 of Republic act 9184 a law allowing President Aquino’s immediate power in procuring military assets, directly to the government that has mutual security defense arrangement. Such military assets are Fighter Jets, Warship, (GTAM) Ground to air missile or (SAM) surface to air missiles, attack submarines, attack choppers and combat tanks for the use of the Armed Forces of the Philippines minimum credible defense posture. Philippines is planning to acquire 1 squadron of 12 units F-35 lightning, joint strike fighter jets with stealth capability through the help and offer of the United States military soft loan assistance to guard their territory against intrusion of Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone, West Philippine Sea. Lockheed Martin Corp. is the company that develops and assembles F-35 joint strike fighter jets or (JSF). - See more at: http://manilalivewire.com/china-called-on-lockheed-martin-ceo-to-halt-philippines-f-35-jet-fighter-procurement/#sthash.wteYi9rb.dpuf This info needs verification. Nonetheless, this is a good move if it is true. Another option is to allow again the US to base their F-22 and F-35 here as part of the AsPac force!
