For decades, undeterred by sanctions and international isolation, North Korea has been increasing the power and range of its arsenal of missiles. It is in a position today to rapidly hit densely populated targets throughout East Asia. With an intercontinental ballistic missile, its reach would become global. The missiles shown here include those already in the Kim regime’s arsenal—the Scud series, the No-dong, and the KN-02—and those in development.

North Korea stands down from launching missiles near Guam

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Wu6diOh_Xw

“SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea said on Wednesday it is "carefully examining" plans for a missile strike on the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam, just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump told the North that any threat to the United States would be met with "fire and fury".

North Korea has made no secret of plans to develop a nuclear-tipped missile able to strike the United States and has ignored international calls to halt its nuclear and missile programs.

The strike plan would be put into practice at any moment once leader Kim Jong Un makes a decision, a spokesman for the Korean People's Army (KPA) said in a statement carried by the North's state-run KCNA news agency.

"The KPA Strategic Force is now carefully examining the operational plan for making an enveloping fire at the areas around Guam with medium-to-long-range strategic ballistic rocket Hwasong-12 in order to contain the U.S. major military bases on Guam including the Anderson Air Force Base," the spokesman said.”*

NORTH KOREA'S URANIUM SUPPLY

North Korea possesses uranium mines containing an estimated 4 million tons of high grade uranium ore.

Prime minister Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan allegedly, through Pakistan's former top scientist, Abdul Qadeer Khan, supplied key data, stored on CDs, on uranium enrichment and information to North Korea in exchange for missile technology around 1990–1996, according to U.S. intelligence officials. President Pervez Musharraf and Prime minister Shaukat Aziz acknowledged in 2005 that Khan had provided centrifuges and their designs to North Korea. In May 2008, Khan, who had previously confessed to supplying the data on his own initiative, retracted his confession, claiming that the Pakistan Government forced him to be a "scapegoat". He also claimed that North Korea's nuclear program was well advanced before his visits to North Korea.

Highly enriched uranium (HEU) program was publicized in October 2002 when the United States asked North Korean officials about the program. Under the Agreed Framework, North Korea explicitly agreed to freeze plutonium programs (specifically, its "graphite moderated reactors and related facilities"). The agreement also committed North Korea to implement the Joint Declaration on the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, in which both Koreas committed not to have enrichment or reprocessing facilities. The United States argued North Korea violated its commitment not to have enrichment facilities.

In December 2002, claiming North Korean non-compliance, the United States persuaded the KEDO Board to suspend fuel oil shipments, which led to the end of the Agreed Framework. North Korea responded by announcing plans to reactivate a dormant nuclear fuel processing program and power plant north of Pyongyang. North Korea soon thereafter expelled United Nations inspectors and announced a unilateral "withdrawal" from the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

In 2007, a Bush administration official assessed that, while there was still a "high confidence" that North Korea acquired materials that could be used in a "production-scale" uranium program, there is only a "mid-confidence" level such a production-scale uranium (rather than merely plutonium) program exists.

MISSILE LAUNCH CAPABILITY that can threaten Guam (3,500 km range)

Tested Successfully;

Hwasong-10 – believed to be a modified copy of the Soviet R-27 Zyb SLBM. Originally believed to have been tested as the first or second stage of Unha, but debris analysis showed that the Unha used older technology than it is believed the Hwasong-10 uses. Also known under the names Nodong-B, Taepodong-X, Musudan and BM25, predicted to have a range of 2,500–4,000 km. A DoD report puts BM25 strength at fewer than 50 launchers.

Pukkuksong-1 – a long-range, solid-fueled, SLBM. Also called the KN-11 by the Defense Department. Possibly derived from the Chinese JL-1 SLBM.

Pukguksong-2 – a long-range, land based development of the solid fueled Pukkuksong-1. Also known as the KN-15.

Hwasong-12 – a medium-range, liquid-fueled, mobile missile. First tested in May 2017. also known as KN-17 outside of Korea, South Korean experts estimate range of 5000 to 6000 km based on successful test conducted in May.

Hwasong-14 – Also known as the KN-20, a long-range, road transportable ICBM, tested on July 4 and July 29[168], 2017, estimated range is 6,700–10,000 km (4,200–6,200 mi) John Schilling estimates the current accuracy of the North's Hwasong-14 as poor at the mooted ranges which threaten US cities (which would require more testing to prove its accuracy). Michael Elleman has pointed out that the NHK video which captured the descent of the reentry vehicle (RV) shows its failure to survive reentry. If the RV had survived reentry, the video would have shown a bright image all the way to impact in the sea. A redesign of the reentry vehicle and more testing are expected.

Untested;

KN-08 – Road-mobile ICBM. Also called the Hwasong-13 (HS-13). Maximum range >3,400 miles. The US Defense Department estimates at least 6 KN-08 launchers are in deployment.[161] A modified version, the KN-14, was unveiled at a parade marking the 70th anniversary of the Workers Party of Korea.

Basics of a Nuclear Weapon

- enrichment
- collision between 2 separate Uranium fuels
- collision causes chain reaction, giving off massive explosion
- the longer the chain reaction, the bigger the blast

PAST MISSILE LAUNCHES THAT ARE CRITICAL TO REGION'S SECURITY

February 7, 2016 - measuring capacity to hit Japan

The UN Security Council headed by the United States, South Korea, and Japan called for an emergency meeting after North Korea launched a missile into orbit at 9:00AM Sunday, local time.

Carrier rocket Kwangmyongsong-4 blasted off from the Sohae Space Center at 9 a.m Sunday local time, state news agency KCNA confirmed.

The satellite entered orbit nine minutes and 46 seconds after the liftoff, an operation “great leader Kim Jung Un personally ordered and directed,” the TV announcer said.

The United States Central Intelligence Agency analyzed the trajectory and it said the debris could put many lives in danger if it falls over populated area somewhere between Southern Japan, Taiwan, and Northern Philippines. The Philippines it said has the highest probability to get hit.

Japan’s analysis of the launch indicated parts the rocket fell into four locations offshore after takeoff, the Japanese Prime Minister’s office said Sunday via Twitter.

One location is 150 kilometers west of the Korean peninsula in the Yellow Sea, two other locations are southwest of the Korean peninsula in the East China Sea and a fourth location is about 2,000 kilometers south of Japan in the Pacific Ocean, according to the Prime Minister’s office. The last location is near the tip of Luzon according to the report submitted by the CIA to Security Council.

The sudden missile launch angered most of North Korea’s neighbors, especially Japan, South Korea, United States, and even its ally China.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines is now monitoring the area where the debris are expected to fall. Since the Philippine Military has no radar to monitor the debris, it rely on Japanese Military’s report.

President Aquino has ordered residence in some provinces in Northern Luzon to minimize going outside and advised people to stay inside their homes until news about the falling debris are cleared.

May 14, 2017 - measuring capacity to hit Japan

- high angle vertical trajectory
- debris landed in the Sea of Japan, 400 km away from Japan's territory
- Japan criticized launch

North Korea test-launched a missile of an unknown type early on Sunday, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported citing the country’s military.

"The North launched the missile from the country's northwest city of Kusong," the South Korean agency reported, citing the Joint Chief of Staff.

The projectile is "believed to be ballistic missile", the agency said without giving no further details such as the distance it flew or the time of the launch.

According to Japan’s Kyodo news agency, which cited an unnamed Japanese government source, Pyongyang could be testing a new type of a ballistic missile. The assumption is based on the fact that the projectile’s trajectory was very steep and similar to space launches.

"The missile reached an altitude higher than 1,000 kilometers during its flight, raising the possibility that it was launched at a steep "lofted" trajectory. Deliberately firing the missile at such an angle could allow North Korea to test its capabilities without it landing closer to Japan," the agency reported.

According to South Korean military sources, quoted by Kyodo, the ballistic missile covered about 700 kilometers before splashing down in the Sea of Japan.

The Hawaii-based US Pacific Command said it had detected and assessed the missile launch, and came to a conclusion that "the flight was not consistent with an intercontinental ballistic missile," spokesman Rob Shuford said in a statement.

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said the missile was launched at about 5:28 a.m. local time and flew for some 30 minutes. No damage to vessels in the zone of the splashdown has been reported to date,

"The missile was launched from the Kusong city area. It covered about 800 kilometers and landed in the Sea of Japan, some 400 kilometers away from the country’s territory, outside the exclusive economic zone," he told reporters.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe described the move as "absolutely unacceptable," adding that his country would continue to work with its allies in the United States and South Korea to ensure the safety of its people, Kyodo reported.

"These repeated missile launches by North Korea are a grave threat to our country and are in clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions,"Abe said.

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula began to grow in early 2016 when North Korea conducted a nuclear test and after that launched a ballistic missile carrying a satellite. In September 2016, Pyongyang carried out another nuclear test, while more than 20 missiles were test-fired during the year.

In April 2017, North Korea carried out several missile tests the latest of which took place on April 29, only a few hours after the United Nations Security Council had held a meeting to discuss the situation on the Korean Peninsula. The most recent test of a ballistic missile took place in February. The missile covered 700 kilometers and landed in the Sea of Japan.

Meanwhile, in early March, the media reported that North Korea was making preparations for the sixth nuclear test. (TASS)

CAN NORTH KOREA REALLY HIT GUAM?

Maybe not at this time when you talk of their land-based missile launchers.

Why?

They have only tested the capability for hitting Japan but not yet the 3,500 kilometer range.

Sending a ballistic missile into space poses a big problem for North Korea since it will need to survive the 5-layer missile defense network of the allied forces in the region. These are US, Japan and South Korea.

The missile defense includes the Patriot Missiles, the THAAD Missiles and the space layer AEGIS plus SM-3 missile defense system.

Once the Nokor missile is launched it can be intercepted by either South Korea's THAAD or SM-3 missile.

Past South Korea's territory, the US' Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, positioned in the Sea of Japan, East China Sea and the Yellow Sea, can take over.

Past that zone, Japan's land-based Patriot batteries can take over. It can also utilize its own AEGIS ships.

Past Japan, the US ships East of Japan can take over.

When it reaches Guam, the land-based THAAD can take over.

So, as you can see, it is almost impossible to hit Guam from North Korea.

Another great concern is the US retaliation.

It can easily obliterate the entire Nokor land.

TRIDENT nuclear ballistic missiles can be launched from the Yellow Sea, Sea of Japan and even East China Sea.

Nuclear-tipped Tomahawks can be launched from Navy ships across that region.

ICBM from Alaska can also be used to hit North Korea.

Bomber planes including B1 Lancer carrying the nuclear-armed AGM-86B cruise missile from Japan and Sokor can help cripple the entire Nokor military.

It's a suicide for North Korea.

F-22 stealth fighter-bombers can also assist in crippling North Korea.

The funny thing is that North Korea feels like it can defeat the US while the US, especially its political advisers and critics are too scared of the war.

The US including South Korea and Japan are being threatened already.

The 3 must not allow North Korea to complete the test. It must shoot down any missile that will enter Japan's air space or past the East China Sea.

This is reasonable since all nations should abide by the UN principle of non-provocation. The 1st world nations such as US, UK, France, Canada, Australia and even Russia, India and China have not been doing a test on such flight path.

But here is North Korea spitting on all our faces as if it owns the global community.

North Korea's tests that affect the air space beyond its territory must be stopped since it threatens the security of its peace-loving neighbors.

North Korea have the right to defend itself but not on threatening its neighbors.

Therefore, I say again, North Korea's attempt to deliver the missile beyond its territorial air space must be stopped.

War he wants? Give it and save the North Korean people from their leader's disillusion and arrogance.

By the way, I am more concerned on North Korea's capability to deliver the missile via submarines. It will surely make it harder for the US to defeat the missile strike when the missile is launched from the Pacific zone.

Perhaps, all these press raleases are just diversions.

Therefore, the US should now enforce a blockade and order the US Navy to stop or kill any North Korean submarine that will enter the Pacific.

The US should be brave enough to be as tough in reminding North Korea of the consequence including the complete obliteration of the North Korean land, which involves vaporizing 25,000,000 of its citizens.

As for the rest of the nations, trade sanctions must be done and the promise of economic aid should North Korea refrain from its provocation.

HOW ABOUT THE DEBRIS?

As per past tests, especially the one done on February of 2016, one part of the NoKor missile plunged into the sea near the tip of the Philippines.

The concern is that if a THAAD missile hits the Nokor missile, it will just plunged into the sea w/o a possible unintentional nuclear detonation since it uses a kinetic force to kill the bomb.

But if an SM-3 missile is used, its explosive component could trigger the nuclear explosion itself. When debris hit our territory there could be nuclear radiation affecting fish supply in the Northern and Eastern part of the country or other effects that can threaten our citizens on land.
