Maybe we shouldn't do the whole 'First Contact' scenarios. Since there was a massive Civil War throughout the Galaxy, you'd think that everyone would know everyone. Otherwise, how would there be a war in the first place? Plus, it just gets the whole thing going faster. |

Well The Galaxy in this run of NEAR doesn't have to be war torn, but first contact senarios are always a good idea. |

First contacts definitely help shape nation's foreign relations with each other, but do tend to make things a bit hard to get moving. Perhaps all nations in the same quadrant know each other, and can have first contacts with others? I feel that that would stimulate the whole group much more quickly and still offer the much desired characterization and other stuff |

Hmmmmm.... I think it will be a different ball game since each nation can have an independant thread to evryone else in terms of a First Contact |

Imagine how long that would take though. If we had even 4 members, that's already 24 threads...or is my math wrong? Eck, I'm too lazy to bother checking. |

Well since each sector of the galaxy is divided so nation of those area's can be closer communication wize , there will also be a master galaxy thread for cross-Quadrant RP's. I'm also thinking of making each nation here have an ever-expanding Nation Thread for which they can grow their nations through the RP's as well as expansions of their factbooks. |

I really wouldn't mind it since we have our own site we can have as many threads as we wish LOL. But I see your point. |

First contact could happen DURING the RP's, when one nation joins an RP they could treat it as a first contact for the first few posts. |

First Contact threads, in my opinion, are a milestone and gateway. It signifies the first time (after ceasing isolationism, after arriving in the galaxy, since reaching FT tech, etc) that your nation contacts another one. It can almost be presumed that any first contact threads after that are historically far less significant for your nation, not to mention your nation is likely now much more aware of other nations through whatever knowledge is gained during the first First Contact. Additionally, a First contact thread serves as a nice introductory thread for your nation if done well. I believe it is a good thing for a nation to have a thread dedicated to their very First Contact and all subsequent first-contact scenarios are better suited to being integrated as they occur into other threads. |

But the thing is, it seems unnecessary since there was a galaxy wide war. It would seem as if everyone would know each other because of the war. |
