Welcome to the Navy Field Spriting Project. We rose after the decline of the NGP, which succeeded its predecessor TBNF. We have several sprites by both teams and we still work on sprites of our own! Hop in, join in the community, and add some style to your game!

If you are a guest, you may browse and download from our complete sprite and mod database. However, to view some behind the scenes work and see more about what we do, join our spriting team, or report an issue, then please register for the board.

SPRing 0.5.1
SPRing, a vital piece of equipment for the spriter. It tends to darken the sprites when you extract them from the SPR file, so just be warned you need to check for transparency issues as you're working with it.

Ring Remover V5
When you take pictures in your harbor, then this mod removes the rings around the Gun and FCS. The only error message it shows over where the guns would be is "Unmatching Ability" which can be avoided by keeping the sailors off.

SPRViewer V0.5
SPRViewer can be more useful than SPRing in a few cases. But it's buggy and should only be used for exporting BMP's. And back up the sprite file before you use SPRViewer on it, by all means!

GIMP 2.8
Gimp is a GNU, free-to-use photoshop. It is the tool of choice for modifying the BMP's if you can't afford something like Adobe Photoshop.

From now on, when I have finished updated for SPRing, I will post their logs here as replies and the links to the modified sprInfo.txt files in the log updates. Most of these changes can be found in the "Browse SPR Folder" options menu.

**How to Install SPRing Updates**

Simply download sprInfo.txt into the very folder where SPRing is. It will be in the same spot as "SPRing.jar" is in. To make sure you know what you're looking at, you need to find the old sprInfo.txt file to be sure. Once you have located the original, download the new one which is attached to the update's post on this page, delete the old sprInfo, and paste in the sprInfo.txt that you just downloaded. If SPRing is open during any of this, you will need to close it and start it again in order to undergo the changes. However, changing the sprInfo.txt will not harm SPRing in any way if it is open, so it's okay to update it while it is open.

**Update 5.2 ** - Guaranteed to work with NavyField v1.365 - File Attached

Adds in all submarines, SS1-SS5 (before, there were no SS5, and also no MN, RM, or SN subs). Also adds in a few harbor sprites, particularly DD's.

There is some menu rearranging. This was done because the number of files under each sub-menu was too great, and could actually go off of the screen, depending on your resolution.
The new menu organization is relatively simple. The two categories really altered by this update are the BB and CL folders. The BB folder is now split into two folders, "BB" and "BB_2", in the Harbor and Battle sections. The CL folder has been split into "CL_1" and "CL_2", although this change only occurs in the Harbor section.

This is really intended as a sneak preview of what is to come in SPRing 0.6.0, which will complete at least all MN ships and may see a complete reorganization of all the sub-menus. There isn't any sort of timeframe or release date on V0.6.0, but it'll get here.

Disclaimer - I am not the original creator of SPRing, I am only modifying it for usage by appropriate spriting organizations due to the newer versions of NavyField being released.

**Edited to alter version to 5.2. The naming it of 0.5.2 was a mistake, as SPRing is not in beta or alpha development.**

**Update 5.3** Guaranteed to work with NavyField v1.366 - File Attached, Backup of SPRing v0.5.1 also included

Corrected some placement errors among the MN submarines. Adds in the PCV Daladier in (H)(B)(S).

** UPDATE 6.0 ** Guaranteed to work with NavyField V1.366 - File Attached, No Backup Included

Please take note that these changes only effect the Harbor sprites folder. The Shadow and Battle sprites will be changed in SPRing V6.1, which will be released during the following weeks.

Corrected a placement error from the original SPRing where the P Project II was being misdirected.

Moved all of the neutral ships to their own menu, to free up space in the DD menur which otherwise would have been too large for the screen.

Split larger folders into two parts. For example, the CV folder has been split into "CV_1" and "CV_2". These changes were applied to the CL, BB, and CV folders. This was done because...

All ships that exist in NavyField as of March 24, 2013 have been added to SPRing's browser!! All nations, all classes, including the newest event ships!

Disclaimer - I am not the original creator of SPRing. I have however created all versions of SPRing after version 5.1 (known as 0.5.1 on the Navyfield Graphics Project [NGP] site), including SPRing 5.2, 5.3, and 6.0. Usage of this software is limited to spriting team members of the organizations "Navyfield Graphics Project (NGP)" and "Navy Field Spriting Project (NFSP)" unless express permission by the version creator is granted.

** Update 6.1 ** Guaranteed to work with NavyField V1.367 - File Attached

The changes that effected the Harbor Sprites in V6.0 have been applied to all Battle Sprites, and a few Shadow Sprites.

There is a possibility that there will be another version released with the Shadow sprites listed. However due to the fact that almost nobody makes modifications of these files this is not likely to happen until more ships are released in NavyField.
