I was the Club's only representative in the Yorkshire CF 50 today on the V259 Thirsk by-pass. It was a warm morning but very humid - my visor quickly steamed up. Then at 30 miles light rain began and continued to the finish, not always so light. This made visibility even worse. On the plus side the winds were very light so it turned out to be a fast morning.

I was able to achieve one of my targets for 2014, that is, to set a new PB at 50 miles (my previous best was set in a Spoco event in 1996). A secondary target was to beat 2 hours for the first time. I finished in 1-57-36, so I am very pleased. Unfortunately I missed my third target which was to win the V60-69 prize - I was beaten by 4 seconds by Rod Brooks. He wasn't the fastest over 60 rider though - Brian Sunter finished in 1-52-13 at age 71! Andy Jackson of Team Swift won with 1-41-16.

After I finished there was a down pour which resulted in having to ride the 7 miles! back to the HQ soaking wet and rather chilled.

Dave.

Super ride that Dave - under two hours and a PB at your age!! Yes - a pity you did not just get the hat trick with the 60-69 win as well but that is a lowly third priority to what you achieved.
Easily a Club Age Record so many congratulations again!
