A '50' PB last week so hope Dave does a '10' one today?

No chance of that, Dave. My 10 PB was done on a good afternoon on Levens when I was 61 and much fitter than I am now and just as aero. My old 50 PB was done in a Spoco up at Carlisle on the A7 on my steel bike with too high aero bars, although I was a lot fitter than I am now and was very pleased with the time then.

It would be nice to beat 22 minutes again but after my last Levens event (22-33) I realised I am a long way off that target.

It's normally very fast after a thunderstorm as you know Dave so all the best later.

I included your 50 performance in my column on Thursday but they chopped out the main theme as I had said 'In a perfect example of 'Never give in' life-long racing cyclist DH of BB set a new PB at 50 miles at the age of 67 (quote time etc.).

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/cycling/

They cut chunks of that out.

Unfortunately for Dave and others in that 10 at Hull it was cancelled after heavy rain.

I am destined not to ride on the V718 course, it seems. The only event I entered on there last year (I had never ridden on there before) was cancelled early due to roadworks. I didn't know the event had been cancelled when I set out in good time today. However I didn't even make it to the HQ. Perhaps it is just as well I didn't - it seems that it saved me part of the journey. The M62 was closed between junctions 26 & 27. I came off and found my way to the A58 but soon I was in a barely moving traffic jam. This led to the roundabout at junction 26 which had turned into a circular car park. After an hour of queuing and making very little progress I realised that I would be lucky to get to the start line by the end of the event, never mind my start time, so I managed to get into the inside lane which was still moving slowly and get back onto the M62 heading for home. What a frustrating day!

I just checked the TT forum it said postponed rather than cancelled, but no email from the organiser yet to confirm this.

Dave.
