This is the thread for claiming wonders and monuments that exist in your nation. Feel free to claim any you want, but don't be excessive and be mindful of your nations culture. Make sure you check the Index of existing wonders first, to avoid doubling up.

Nation: The Union of Slavic Socialist Republics
Name of Monument/Wonder: The Kremlin
Year of construction: 1495
IRL Counterpart: Moscow Kremlin
Brief Background: Palace of the King of the Muscovy kingdom, a small empire in the early 14th century. The Palace, constructed from Marble, had various buildings around it to assist the King. Eventually the Government was run from the area around the palace, known as the government district. This district contained a palace, parliamentary hall and it's own cathedral, with residences of the government officials also located in the district. Eventually, a large wall was constructed around the palace in the mid 15th Century from clay in nearby deposits, giving the structure it's distinct red walls.

Nation: The Union of Slavic Socialist Republics
Name of Monument/Wonder: St Basil's Cathedral
Year of construction: 1561
IRL Counterpart: St Basil's Cathedral
Brief Background: Constructed in the Mid-15th Century to promote the establishment of Northern Orthodoxy, the cathedral symbolizes a bonfire rising into the sky. Ordered for Completion by the King of Muscovy, this structure was originally constructed from wood, stone and clay, through the wood has been replaced with steel as part of a modernization project undertaken in the early 20th Century. This Cathedral has long been a symbol of Muscovy, and indeed the Rus' spirit throughout the centuries.

Nation: The Union of Slavic Socialist Republics
Name of Monument/Wonder: The Muscovy State Historical Museum
Year of construction: 1872
IRL Counterpart: Russian State Historical Museum
Brief Background: Opened in 1872 by order of the Tsar, this structure was created in an attempt to boost Rus' patriotism, and increase the knowledge of the people about both Rus history and culture. While initially having only modest collections, the museum rapidly began collecting a range of artifacts, from spears of early Rus tribal hunters, to paintings of royal families of the early 16th century. In total, the museum contains 4,373,757 artifacts, making it one of the largest museums in the world by volume of collections.

Nation: The Union of Slavic Socialist Republics
Name of Monument/Wonder: The Arctic Mother Calls
Year of construction: 1982
IRL Counterpart: The Motherland Calls
Brief Background: Constructed to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the foundation of the Empire of Rus, this statue is the 6th largest of it's kind in the world, and the 3rd largest if bases for other statues are not included. The Arctic Mother calls is a large statue of a woman, sword in one hand and other hand pointing north, towards the magnetic pole.

Nation: The Union of Slavic Socialist Republics
Name of Monument/Wonder: Neuschwanstein
Year of construction: Started Construction in 1860, finished construction in 1862
IRL Counterpart: Neuschwanstein Castle
Brief Background: Constructed as a palace and castle for the northern lord, and hand to the Tsar, Igor Tarovich, it is seen as a symbol of Rus optimism and hardy construction in hard terrain. The Castle is constructed on a side of a cliff, with the other side opening out to forest and tundra. Initially, the castle was lightly guarded, due to it's isolation, but slowly villages began forming around the retread, both to service the lord and others due to the infrastructure created for the castle, and so the castle slowly became for fortified, until it became it's current state. While it did have some abandonment in the earth 19th century, due to budget constraints and little need, recently it has undergone a refurbishment campaign, both to restore honor to the monarchy and to generate tourism abroad.
