Yes, it's already time for the next newsletter. Let's start early this time so we're not in a big rush. I think we need to set up a schedule. for example: Ideas completed by 10th of month Articles completed by 20th of month Final Proofreads completed by 25th of month. That's just an example. We'll have to discuss what would be best. Here's some article ideas for November. Zombies invade RTL Founder exercises veto power for first time (This article should hopefully NOT be written or heavily edited by COL or I since we were involved in the case. We do have to retain at least some front of objectivity for the newsletter. We all know the problems this caused last time in the Ovybia v. RTL article. Maybe Texoma would be a good author?) Offsite Board Reaches 10,000 Posts Regional Power Reaches High Saint Peter Reforms Regional Bank There must be many more. I'd appreciate suggestions. EDIT: I added COL's suggested articles to the list. Edited by Ovybia, Monday Nov 2 2015, 12:51 AM.

If the pain is not alleviated within 2-4 minutes, as a last resort, one could always become logical. I believe Aawia thinks you've gone beyond your privileges as a lay citizen in opening this topic, in giving directions to writers ("Let's start early this time"), and in recommending a timeline for the November newsletter ("we need to set up a schedule"). Such action naturally should be the prerogative of the News Director. Who's the "we"? As far as I see, you're speaking for yourself. The Ovybia v. RTL article was objective:
The only purpose of adding your sentence would have been to portray New Dolgaria, Phydios, Cocles, and Xinxian -- and, by extension, the whole regional government -- as idiots or bigots: "look, they can't even see discrimination when somebody admits it." Of course, you might hold this view; but there is nothing objective about it. You've even admitted that you were using the region's anti-discrimination law without actually believing you suffered discrimination. Per your view, the idea that anyone could suffer discrimination is borderline absurd since the concept of discrimination is itself "confusing," "vague," "flawed," "too politically correct," etc. "There are very few circumstances where judging someone based on his group is wrong" (October 5, 2015). * Besides, if Stellonia had discriminated against you, you should have sued him, not the government. At this time, my suggestions for Texoma are:

Whatever. All I know is that I am a member of the news bureau and we need to get another newsletter started. I don't see how it will help anybody by playing technical games. I've only presented suggestions so far, nothing outside of my authority. The following is a long boring dissertation explaining the misleading statements COL presented above.
The "we" is you and I. I was the prosecuting attorney and you were the defending attorney in the case. Both parties are obviously biased.
Your facts are not incorrect; you just haven't balanced them with facts from the other side. You included facts to back up your side of the story but nothing to explain mine.
Nobody believes that except you. Cocles, of all people, is my best friend on NationStates.
Oh boy, COL. Stellonia argued part of my case in court!! Of course he thought the senate decision was discriminatory otherwise he never would have taken my case (specifically, he argued the senate had violated RTL Code 9:13). He also testified to that effect in court.
Finally, we are not re-arguing the case here. We are presenting a short article of the facts from both sides. In summary, the article published on Ovybia v. RTL included absolutely no justification from my side of the case while effectively rearguing the case from COL's side. In fact the article even used some of the same wording COL had in his defense statements in the appeal of Ovybia v. RTL. --------------------------------------------------------- Now, I would hope that you would have the common decency to avoid hiijacking the Founder veto article for your own political purposes again. If COL actually thinks that his article would be unbiased, then he shouldn't mind if a nonpartisan party (such as Texoma) writes the founder veto article. Hopefully that's settled and we can continue gathering article ideas for the next newsletter now. |

This post has always been started by the News Director since the creation of the New Bureau; I would recommend Texoma either A: lock the thread or B: Ask CoL to delete it. Of course Texoma has final say as he is the director but that's my suggestion. Also, this thread is off topic so I don't think it'd be too much of a loss anyway. I will also say that in my opinion we shouldn't run an article about the trial because of the controversy surrounding the issue; everything about it will cause conflict and strife and for the sake of regional unity I think it's best to leave it and let the wounds try to heal. |

I am going to lock this thread for the sake of consistency and for the sake of a debate-free environment. Ovybia, you are welcome to post your ideas on the November newsletter thread that I create, but please all don't try to put super controversial articles that may cause an uproar ( or rather will cause internal conflict). I may be forced to exclude the latest case if that's how it's going to be. Thank you for understanding everyone. |
