SENATE OF RIGHT TO LIFE
17TH SESSION

I'm opening this thread for general discussion about ideas and goals for the Seventeenth Senate of Right to Life. Whether you're a senator, a member of the executive branch, or an ordinary citizen, feel free to share your thoughts in this thread. Here are a few issues that region members have brought up lately:
  • Zombie Plague -- As a region, how do we want to respond to this Halloween's zombie apocalypse mini-game? Last year, the Senate passed a temporary law on the matter.

  • Outreach Ministry -- For several months, there's been talk about creating a Ministry of Outreach and Activism. In fact, a bill has been drafted; but no action has been taken on it.

  • Economic Development -- Dallas Unit 9 just returned to NationStates. Since she left a year and a half ago, every Senate and most Bank Directors have discussed her idea of creating an economic development board of some kind, but no action has ever been taken. Stimulating economic activity has become something of a third rail; no one wants to touch it.

  • Pro-Life International Conference -- Catholic has agreed to create temporary forums to hold a world pro-life conference in December. Is there anything our region can do to help Catholic prepare?

  • Court Procedures -- For some time, players have thrown around ideas for reforming the Justice Court's procedures. Currently, there aren't any formal rules in place. The present custom is: the plaintiff makes his case, the defendant presents his defense, the plaintiff responds, the defendant makes a closing statement, and the justice of the peace delivers his ruling.

  • Military Affairs -- We ought to do something to revitalize the regional army. Also, there's been discussion in the past about passing a law (re)structuring our army and passing a law creating a civilian regional guard, which could be mobilized during emergencies for the defense of close allies.

I personally think that we as a region should copy our approach from last year. Require nations to focus on either curing or killing the zombies. That's the approach I'll be taking.

I concur with Phydios. A cure/kill combo sounds wise.
Traditionalist Catholic.
Soon-to-be Seminarian
Catholic Authoritarian.
Clerical Fascist sympathies.
Founding member and Head of the Reactionary Traditionalist Front.
Former Senator and Foreign Minister of Right To Life.

Sounds good to me. We'll see how high we can get Right to Life in the regional rankings.

Another idea I'd had was possibly licensing a number of players to be on a "zombie team" while letting the majority of the region be the "anti-zombie team." They would compete against each other, and the winning team would be crowned according to some arbitrary level (e.g., a 10% infection rate).

Zombies are bad. Source: most zombie films.

Should we pass a bill on this like we did last year?

No. If the Senate does, I'll start a petition to block the proposed legislation.

Do you have a good reason to oppose this?

If we're going for rankings world wide let's get behind a common cause, so healing / killing it is.

No. If the Senate does, I'll start a petition to block the proposed legislation.

Yes. The government has no business dictating how individuals manage their own zombie crises. After all, their NS nation is their property, not the Senate's.
