Didn't see this, UMass... already did a quick article. Feel free to edit though. Google doc - you should have privileges. The only thing I wasn't sure about / couldn't find a source for was when Texasa became DOS. Taboo on Treasonous Texasa - Quickly Condemned by Court The former nation of Texasa had already been warned about spamming and participating in other generally obnoxious behavior, having been involved in several sorts of nefarious activity in NationStates proper, and having been warned several times to stop his maliciousness. On September 5th, 2016, he carelessly used his moderation abilities to combine several threads in the [region]Right to Life[/region]’s roleplay subforum, leading to confusion and annoyance. To prevent similar mistakes from happening in the future, [nation]Culture of Life[/nation], RTL’s founder and main forum moderator, made the executive decision to permanently revoke Texasa’s forum privileges and ban him from the forum for a week. Texasa took issue with this decision, and appealed it to the Court. After a laborious trial, [nation]Culture of Life[/nation] was found not guilty on September 24th, and Texasa’s ban went into effect. A week or so later ***Source? Date?*** Texasa was tried to hack into [nation]Culture of Life[/nation]’s account by guessing his password. As a result of this and his previous infractions, the NationStates moderators declared him delete-on-sight (DOS). RTL common law holds that DOS nations must be permanently banned from the off-site forums and have their assets seized; this was promptly carried out. Texasa displayed poor judgement on multiple occasions, abused his power, and instead of changing his behavior after multiple warnings, tried to use illegal methods to gain control of RTL for his own benefit. Fortunately, he was unsuccessful, and suffered the negative consequences of his actions. |

@CoL In late November and early December, regional activity began to pick up again as old [former?] citizens, including Dallas Unit 9, Saint Peter, and United Massachusetts, returned to the region. The RCS (Conservative Federalist) announced that he would not seek a third term as president; [should be a comma] and two veterans of regional politics, Former Senator New Missouri (Libertarian) and Former Senator and Foreign Minister Stellonia (Independent), ran to replace him. |

I made the first change. "Former" is a lot better than "old." I've left the semicolon based on my own punctuation preferences. As far as I'm aware, this is a place where the use of commas or semicolons is disputed by the experts. http://writing.wisc.edu/Handbook/Semicolons.html ("Link lengthy clauses or clauses with commas to avoid confusion between clauses") |

I agree with Culture of Life on the semi-colon point. It suits my own preferences too. However, grammar warriors outside of Right to Life will probably yell at us. Suggestion: delete the word "and". Problem solved

The rule of thumb I learned is to only use a semi-colon if a comma would make the sentence unclear. I think one could make an argument that the reference you quoted supports that interpretation. Not that it matters much. You could delete the following "and," I suppose. I doubt anyone will be picking over your punctuation.

Our newsletter's punctuation and grammar seem immaculate when you look at the newsletters of some other regions. Let's let the RCS decide! After all, he is the News Director. |
