Would you mind redoing this vote? An hour and a half after Senator Liniran posted his vote, Senator RCS edited the bill to fix a mistake. Unfortunately, I can't see what the original bill said and, therefore, don't know what the Senate passed. For future reference, please don't edit bills during or after votes. Also, I think it should be made clear what this bill would do. At present, the Regional Economy Act prohibits private economic discrimination based on: - Race
- Ethnicity
- Sex
- Nationality
This bill would remove the protections for race and ethnicity. It would add protections for age, political affiliation, religion, and raider/defender stance. It would exclude protections, which have been proposed, for sexual orientation and citizenship status. I honestly can't see a good reason for either of the removals. Of all protections, race and ethnicity come before a lot of others. I agree with CoL, and I am not a fan of Lechia's "pass it then amend" attitude, despite us being in the same party.

I think Sexual Orientation, Race, and Ethnicity should be on the bill.
For the reason given by Senator Liniran, I'm opposed to this bill. I don't believe there's any good reason for removing the protections for racial and ethnic groups, which our regional economy has always included. Moreover, I'm not fond of the "First we have to pass it!" mentality expressed by Senator Slavic Lechia above. The Senate should get bills right the first time rather than passing and amending ad infinitum. Nonetheless, I have consulted President New Missouri (see RTL Const. 3:3); and he advises me to sign this bill into law. Thus, I reluctantly sign it into law. The regional code has been updated accordingly: http://w11.zetaboards.com/NS_Right_to_Life/topic/10451313/1/RTL Code 9:13 SECTION 13.
- Discrimination based on race or ethnicity is strictly prohibited.
- Members who participate in the Right to Life regional economy cannot be denied legitimate and reasonable services from a for-profit organization based on:
- Sex
- Nationality
- The Bank Director, the regional government, and the forum staff shall share responsibility for enforcing nondiscrimination in the regional economy. If necessary, an offended party shall have the right to sue anybody who illegally discriminates against him; and appropriate judicial relief shall be granted.
SECTION 13. Forum members participating in the regional economy shall not be denied employment, goods, or services, except for legitimate and reasonable purposes, based on any one of the following:
- Age
- Nationality
- Political affiliation
- Religion
- Sex
- Raider/Defender Ideology
The Bank Director, the regional government, and the forum staff shall share responsibility for enforcing nondiscrimination in the regional economy. If necessary, an offended party shall have the right to sue anybody who illegally discriminates against him; and appropriate judicial relief shall be granted.I beseech the Senate to correct its grievous error in the next few days, reinstating protections for racial and ethnic groups and, in addition, adding protections for sexual orientation and citizenship status. Let's do it your way then. Let's revote.

If necessary, an offended party shall have the right to sue anybody who illegally discriminates against him; and appropriate judicial relief shall be granted. I like this bill. I have just three comments, two of which are nitpicky:
- May we alphabetize the list by moving "Raider/Defender Ideology" to its proper place?
- I think "Raider/Defender Ideology" should be lowercase: "Raider/defender ideology."
- Do the senators want to include or exclude "citizenship status" in this bill?
"Citizenship status" would prevent economic actors from discriminating between citizens and noncitizens, such as Quebecshire, in the provision of employment, goods, and services in the Lifemarket.

I hope sexual orientation protections are (eventually) written in. I don't agree. This is a majority Christian region, if you are foolish enough to say that you're gay/lesbian, that's on you.

I don't agree. This is a majority Christian region, if you are foolish enough to say that you're gay/lesbian, that's on you. While I don't agree with non-traditional lifestyles, and agree that they don't need or have to disclose their sexual orientation. No one should feel unwelcome here. We are a community of pro-life individuals, not a Christian group. If someone is pro-life they should feel welcome here. I do feel as though, however, that if a Christian group such as the TAS didn't want to admit a gay or lesbian person due to the parties religious beliefs. They should have that right.

We do not need anything for sexual orientation since there are only heterosexuals in our region. When it changes than ok.
