A Few Words About Us The New York American String Teachers Association (NYASTA) is the New York chapter of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA). Its mission is to: Promote a wider interest and participation in string performance Promote the highest standards in string pedagogy and instruction Serve as a coordinating agency for the professional advancement of its members To meet these goals, NYASTA and ASTA offer a variety of activities and resources such as publications, continuing education, workshops, conferences, competitions and summer camps. Competitions and Contests Members and their students are eligible to compete in ASTA competitions, such as the National Orchestra Festival, National High School Honors Orchestra, National Solo Competition, Eclectic Strings Festival, and the Merle J.
