This is truly one of my favorite books ever. If I could afford it, I'd buy a few hundred thousand copies and put one in every hotel room nightstand drawer. It is not a smooth, seamless read. It's more a collection of thoughts, essays, anecdotes, and ramblings by Dr. Sagan. I often find it frustrating to want to refer back to something I read there and, despite the extensive index, be completely unable to find it. However, it is telling that I so frequently want to refer back to it. And when I can't find the section I'm looking for, I end up rereading huge sections of it and am always reminded why it is such compelling rambling. I find myself engrossed in it over and over and over. This is mandatory reading for any critical thinkers who care about the real-world impact of belief and critical thinking in our very complex social world. |

Hi Tyson, Agreed! This is Sagan's work remains on my top shelf as well. That's why it was so important to lead with it for the book discussion group. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, David |
