Thought I'd start a topic discussing the christian/jewish god Yahweh. Let me start off by saying my personal view of this god, is that he's not only morally twisted and crazy, he's extremely selfish and quite possibly insane considering what's claimed to be true about him in the bible. These are my personal views about the god that's portrayed there, I hope I don't offend anyone by posting this (I'm open to discussion if anyone disagrees). Now onto the topic at hand: there is a serious moral flaw considering the traits given to the god of the bible (literal omniscience, omnipotence, and omnibenevolence), and his decisions throughout the bible and the many declarations and commands given by him in the bible. I use the term "moral flaw" loosely, because it is a subjective term that differs from person-to-person, but I"m going to assert that anyone who is compassionate and doesn't value or feel apathetic towards arbitrary acts that result in human suffering would NOT be ok with what Yahweh does in the bible. Given these amazing traits that are attributed to him in the bible you'd think that he'd *easily* (emphasis on EASILY) be able to construct a world full of people whom he allegedly "loves" that would be without suffering (or at least anything we'd consider to be "great" suffering. murder, rape, etc.). But apparently that's not the case. In many cases he demands the slaughter of thousands of people (some for trivial reasons such as King David taking a census), and he's also ok with the many unfair deaths and evil that occur in the world all the time. According to God, that's just how it's supposed to be. Or as it says in the bible, "Satan is tempting people", which is no excuse considering the magnitude of god's power as attributed to him by the bible. |
