Say what??? So when someone runs one of our guys, a simple push and headlock will do?
Who said that?

Obviously there is a time and a place for fighting. It's part of the game.
That's what I thought. I haven't been posting a lot so I didn't read the other 99 times it was mentioned. I took your comment literally which seemed to make sense at the time.

Watch the playoffs. Are we seeing fighting? No. Are teams playing SMASH-MOUTH hockey? Most definitely YES.

I must be watching a different set of playoff games. Yeah, occasionally there is a big hit. Just like in the regular season. I will confess that last night when the NHL was on I was watching the Yankees. Without a rooting interest ( i.e., the Rangers ) they have made hockey boring. At one time I would never have thought that possible.
Im not sure how much you've watched but there has been a lot of physicality in these playoffs. Any game involving Winnipeg, Boston and even Washington has played a tougher game. Vegas hits too, they do everything well. It definitely looks like a different sport than the Rangers played all season.

If Quin is the head coach of the Rangers he has my 100 % support. How good he will be in the NHL, no one knows how he will do. As I said before this is the NHL now and you are playing with the Big Boys now. The time for getting young players ready to play is over. They had all the teaching they needed, and that's what got them here. The on the job training is over.
I don't care who the next Coach is, as long as he is a kick ass coach, and wants the players to be the same. I want a coach and team that sticks up for his teammates and protects their goalie in the crease. My Teammates Right or Wrong.
LETS FUCKING DO THIS.

This discussion goes back to the regular season. Bob01 seems to be under the misperception that "physicality" means "fighting".

Like I said, I don't know much about Quin, but I would have been more excited if it was, Sutter, Tippett, or Bylsma.
But lets all wait and see.

NHL retreads aren't automatically a better choice than someone new who is deserving of their first chance. Just remember, every coach was a newbie at first.

True, But I know for a fact that all 3NHL ex coaches, are far from being retreads, and are kick ads coaches. I will take them over unknown.
But if it's Quinn. He has my support

No official announcement has been made yet that David Quinn has been named the next head coach of the New York Rangers.

If Quinn is, in fact, named the Rangers' next head coach and if he is the type head coach he is porported to be - good developing young players, holds players accountable, in charge of the room, willing to accept blame, demands his team play a physical, agressive game with pressure on the puck, etc. - then I give Rangers GM Jeff Gorton a lot of credit for doing his due diligence and finding the head coach best suited for the Rangers' needs.

If anyone is reluctant to hire a college head coach to coach in the NHL, consider this: "Badger Bob" Johnson was head coach at Wisconsin before he moved on to the NHL and coached the Pittsburgh Penguins to their first Stanley Cup Championship in 1991. Another notable college head coach who coached in the NHL is Herb Brooks. Currently, Dave Hakstol (Flyers) and Jim Montgomery (Stars) are former college head coaches who are coaching in the NHL.

Boston University has had a long and storied history in college hockey. Notable current NHL players coached by Quinn at BU: Jack Eichel, Clayton Keller, Charlie McAvoy (all first round draft picks). More Boston Terriers who were first round draft picks: Charlie Coyle, Colin Wilson, Kevin Shattenkirk, Ryan Whitney, Rickety DiPietro, Scott Lachance, Keith Tkachuk, Scott Young, and David Quinn himself. Other notable NHL players who were Boston Terriers: Adam Clendening, Alex Chiasson, Eric Gryba, Nick Bonino, Brandon Yip, Matt Gilroy, Chris Drury, Tom Poti, Shawn Bates, Mike Grier, Jay Pandolfo, Adrian Aucoin, Tony Amonte, Shawn McEachern, Jim Craig, Jack O'Callahan, Dave Silk, Rick Meagher. One Terrier who never played in the NHL is Mike Eruzione, captain of the gold medal-winning "Miracle On Ice" 1980 United States Men's Olympic hockey team.

When the heck are the Rangers going to announce this guy as head coach? I thought they were going to do it today.

I realize Tippett is respected around the league and did not have the luxury of coaching stacked teams, but why the fascination with him? He has not seen the playoffs since 2012 and his teams generally couldn't get out of the second round.

I agree. I look at Tippett as a so-so coach, nothing more. Not gonna win a Stanley Cup that guy.
