Yes, I agree 100%. There has been much written about Quinn holding ALL players accountable and incorporating tougher practices. There is no doubt in my mind this is what the rangers need and didn't have under AV. Vegas has to be one of best conditioned teams in the NHL. That team has everyone looking in the mirror and holding themselves to a higher standard. A good example is David Perron. I didn't think he was ever going to be a hard working player. He's bounced around so many times that I thought vegas was going to be his last chance in the NHL. Now look at him. |

Here's an interesting article for people who haven't read it yet. https://nypost.com/2018/05/25/inside-the-friendship-that-could-define-david-quinns-first-season/ Here's another: https://nypost.com/2018/05/24/david-quinn-will-instill-in-rangers-what-their-old-coach-let-slip/ Edited by Nicky22, May 27 2018, 01:07 PM.

Bottom line is AV let too many things slide, and that became more and more apparent in the last couple of seasons. His coaching style is too passive and hands-off. His accountability of his players was selective, and he had no accountability of himself whatsoever. The collapse the Rangers suffered this season wasn't entirely his fault, but he was largely to blame. It was only a matter of time. Edited by Double R, May 27 2018, 01:28 PM.

The first article is written by Brett Cygalis. The second is written by Larry Brooks. All I need to know.

The guy was a big Boston Bruins Fan so you have to figure he likes a physical team. That was always Boston's style and game. |

Just from that Q & A, Quinn seems more open, honest and transparent than AV ever was. This should be very interesting now to see the kind of team the Rangers put together for the starting roster. |

I agree. AV really was an arrogant asshole, but he did a good job of hiding it with his gregarious demeanor. |

I agree with you guys. If anybody has read "Losing the Edge" By Barry Meisel, it is an incredibly detailed and fascinating account of the 94 Ranger team. That Ranger team was the best conditioned in the league, despite its age, because Keenan would make them do an hour on the stationary bike AFTER games in order to prepare them for the grind of the season and playoffs. I have heard from a few sources, some reliable, some less so that the Ranger teams of recent years were...pampered a bit, we'll say. Their play on the ice certainly did not content that point of view and aside from Grabner and maybe Kreider, none of the younger guys seem particulary interested in fitness. I'm sure Kevin Hayes has not lifted a weight since May. |

Speaking of Keenan, I mentioned this before, but it's worth saying it again. We had our season tickets, me and my Son Steven aka Jocko. Alexei Kovalev, was young and still needed coaching in the NHL. Rangers in 94 were playing at MSG, I think it was the Caps. Alexei Kovalev was late getting off with his line, and missed his line change. Next whistle, he skates hard to the bench has 1 foot over the boards and Iron Mike points to him to stay on the ice. I turned to Steven, and said Holy Shit, Keenan is sending Alex back on the ice. This happened 2 more times before Keenan let Alex come off the ice. He was dragging,Ass.,He never missed a line change again. I loved Iron Mike. Hope Quinn, is that type. |
