Have a nice day and stick it where the sun don't shine!! Why the hell should we subtract deGrom anyway? His prime seasons are just beginning. Rather than build with other teams prospects improve your own damn scouting, development and financial stability. If I'm in power Jake stays right where he is. The same applies to Syndergaard unless those chumps are willing to package Sanchez and either Andujar or Torres. Ya want? Ya give to get! The Yankees are displaying their hubris and arrogance, banking on Alderson's desperation. F k 'em!
That would take them spending money, which we all know wont happen.

I know if they trade it wont be for equal value and we'll get some teams b prospects and sell it as their a level and of course like the pound puppies we are we will buy it and keep lining the pockets of this cheap ownership.
The Wilpons open their wallets for the right player/ players when it makes sense.

I don't like them either as owners, but I wouldn't call them cheap. Before Madoff, they spent among the highest in the game for years. After Madoff and in conjunction with new Stadium payments, they dealt with financial hell-hole that forced them to pare down for several seasons but have since rebounded.

Last season they spent the most in franchise history - 165 mil.

They should look to sign at least one big ticket position player in the offseason such as Machado, Harper and high end relievers.

Then round out the spending with moderately priced free agents, plus trade acquisitions that should begin next month.

They've always been cheap, the madoff stuff inflated their finances and they were signing guys with money they didn't really have.

They have always been cheap, even before the 2000s who was the big fish they would get( it took Doubleday to use his stroke for them to even get Piazza here), they would draft below slot a lot because of money, the minor league team is in Vegas because of money.

I have zero faith that this group would ever even talk to a Machado or Harper.

They are still spending on Wright, and Bonilla for craps sake.
They built a average stadium at best to save money.

I can keep going but you get my point.

They overspend for moderate talent and try to convince us that its an all star and sadly a lot of us believe it.

I am sorry but these people are killing my passion for this team and for the sport of baseball.

every decade this team has a two year stretch and we have already used the stretch for this decade already so its pain train from here on in.

Mets AAA affiliate in Vegas because it was the only available option at the time - not because they're cheap.

This is the final Mets season in Vegas after buying (not leasing) AAA Syracuse Chiefs this past offseason, and will begin playing there next season - effectively kicking the Nationals out, forcing them to Vegas if no other AAA affiliate contracts expire in 2018 and aren't renewed with current big league team.

Unless it costs more than 900 mil to build the Braves new ballpark, Citi Field is the second most expensive MLB Baseball Stadium built.

As Mets fans we're all disgusted, want new owners, but I don't think it's accurate to say Wilpons are cheap.

Point well made good sir, so then they are just stupid then.

So wait they spent that much on a park and that is what we get?
a sadder version of the Philly ballpark, if you're going to spend then at least do it wisely, that ballpark could have been a retractable roof with elements of Shea in it instead it looks like some generic park that a lazy architect came up with.

A lot of the money they spent during the Madoff years shouldn't count since it was inflated money.

This team gets 50 mil a season from MLB and I dont know where it goes to be honest.

Sandy is to blame because he built this minor league mess and now we have to deal with it.

I'm not a fan of the Wilpons, nor Citi Field which is big disappointment to you and I both, but a retractable roof seemed over the top at the time to this fan even though among new stadium designs and proposals was a a retractable roof version. Why spend 200 mil on something that wasn't needed at the time? Even the Yankees with their 1.5 bil ballpark didn't see a need.

I understand you're disgusted with ownership just like the rest of us, sick and tired of the same mismanagement and too many June Wait-For-Next Year,s but they're not selling. We frustrated fans have a love-hate relationship with the Franchise - and so it goes.

I think things may change when Fred is out of the picture through ill health or age related demise. Saul Katz is also up there in age. At some point they will be replaced by younger generation family members in addition to Jeff Wilpon who I think is bigger risk taker than his Dad and more apt to open the wallet if only Saul and Fred would allow him. It's only a matter of time before the younger generation get the reins. That's the closest we'll get to change in ownership.

A roof would have paid for itself within a decade, because of the many event they would have had there and no worries about weather, Also Citi field is just sad and it may be a reason why this team sucks at home because there is no home field advantage.

Dont get me wrong, I like the Ebbets field thing, i like the Rotunda, I enjoy the green seats as an homage to the polo grounds, and they kept the apple which is great, they could have made it where you can see the subway maybe or even the skyline if possible.

The field looks so generic, As a Astoria native i even like the nod to the Hells gate bridge, but it looks like citizens bank and it shouldn't.
the bricks behind home field remind me of Wrigley, they should have put subway tiles, that would have made it unique.

I guess well have to wait till next decade for a winner.

Tol, how do you know that Jeff is more of a risk taker and more willing to open up the wallet? Has he expressed this in an interview somewhere, or have other members of the Mets hierarchy said as much. If anyone can find the quote or link to such information, it's you!
