"Perhaps you disagree, but I've found that working
with the Hutts is quite simple.Though, you must always keep
several things in mind: First, always remember that Hutts are
very self-serving creatures, so you must always make yourself
useful, or risk being betrayed when it suits them. Second, repay
your debts promptly. Third, and this is the most important -
...always have an exit strategy, just in case."

Strengths

[Exoskeleton] - Givin racial trait that enables Petra to survive for up to 24 hours in the vacuum of space.
[Veteran Spice Pilot] - Petra is well-acquainted with both evasive maneuvers and high-speed escape tactics.
[Expert Astrogator] - Racial aptitude for higher mathematics allows Petra to plot safe routes through realspace and hyperspace by hand, in her head, and make quick changes to course heading without requiring an astrocartography program.
[Wealthy Patron] - Long-time associate of Kosme the Hutt, who financed Petra's vessel, provides her with official paperwork to pass system checkpoints, bribes authorities on the rare occasion that she's incarcerated, and makes his home estate open to her when she passes through Hutt space. She is expected to return to Nal Hutta every few years to serve as Kosme's advisor, to ensure that her fealty to the Hutt is still firm.

Skills

[Appraisal] - A carefully trained eye can identify the value of most anything she trades or smuggles.
[Blending In] - No stranger to law enforcement, Petra is adept at using crowds and venues as cover.
[Trade Routes] - As a veteran smuggler, Petra knows a wealth of trade routes, both legit and illicit.
[Languages] - Galactic Basic (lingua franca), Huttese (underworld), Bocce (mercantile-trade).

Flaws

[Fast Metabolism] - Must consume three times the calories than a human of equivalent size. Is literally always eating.
[Mistaken for Child] - Because of her small stature and tiny build, if Petra is wearing a broad brimmed hat, face protection, or hood, she is frequently mistaken for a child (or even worse, a jawa). If Petra is described as wearing something that obscures her face, any character may take advantage of this flaw at will.
[Spice Addiction] - To further ensure her loyalty, Kosme the Hutt has very quietly encouraged the Givin into an addiction to Carsunum, a new and rare form of spice that enhances brain power, pushing Petra's already preternatural understanding of astrogation and mathematics further still. To date, Kosme is the only source of the drug. At this stage of addiction, she must have a dose of the substance once per week, or risk physical or mental decline.
[Force Distrust] - Having witnessed both Jedi and Sith struggles, Petra has come to the conclusion that both sides of the spectrum are equally unpredictable and dangerous, whether they destroy and corrupt for the fun of it, or they subtly manipulate society in the name of their flawed vision of 'Greater Good'. Neither prospect puts Petra at ease. She can deal with force-users, however it takes quite a while for her to warm to any that she is aware of.
[Notoriety] - Working for Hutts tends to create something of a bad reputation. Petra has been in the smuggling business for over ten years of her life at this point, and has slowly begun to develop dark rumors in relation to both her own name, and that of her ship, the Fibonacci. Although she can still move about the system mostly unhindered, distrust is becoming an issue depending on where she lands. It is known that she is in excellent standing with Nal Hutta, and is suspected to be one of the Hutt's political agents. It is rumored that she quietly smuggles weapons and banned technology masked as spice or harmless contraband. Any character with wide knowledge of smuggling or criminal elements can take advantage of this flaw at will.

Gear

[Active Weapon] DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol (varies on locale)
[Passive Weapon] Shock Gloves (worn regularly)
[Utility] Magnetic Grapple (on belt)
[Utility] Small Vibroblade (in boot)
[Clothing] Nondescript & Loose (changes with locale)
[Armor] Thin Layer of Ballistic Armor (beneath clothing)
[Footwear] Boots w/Magnetic Switch (worn regularly)
[Communication] Earpiece and Throat-mic (worn regularly)
[Rations] High-Quality Protein Rations (3 days worth)
[Fighting Style] "Shoot it. Sooner would be better."

History

Petra Vacuus't was raised on a space station (Acropolis Initiative) in the Core, far away from the Givin homeworld. As a result, she was never exposed to her people's theocratic government or the ruling council, the Body Calculus. Far from the rigid influence of her own culture, and growing up among Humans and Twi'leks, Petra has developed some distinctly human traits, including a rather pragmatic view of galactic law. Upon reaching adulthood, she succumbed to restlessness and left the Acropolis Initiative with a group of smugglers, working as their navigator for several years and exploring with them. When the ship was captured in Hutt space, Petra was indentured by Kosme the Hutt as a master astrocartographer, eventually earning the gangster's trust and accepting an advisory position within his Court for several years afterward. When her restlessness struck again, Kosme financed a courier vessel and paid to have it modified, with the understanding that Petra would repay him in the form of smuggled contraband, collected intelligence, and the exploration of new forms of vice to be marketed. The female Givin currently operates as a cross-system courier, while also shifting goods and data from place to place.

Original Proof of Concept
Petra Vacuus't, Givin Smuggler

"Do you admire the void, Captain?"

"Not the void, Ferres," Petra said, leaning back, her attention fixated on the thin sheet of glass between she and the vacuum. "The slowly decaying pitch of the ship...the way it effects the play of the stars. In ten minutes or so, we'll see Ryloth rise over Tattoine." She lifted a hand, four long fingers splayed to demonstrate the slow degree at which they turned.

"Ugh...Ryloth." One of the crew said from behind her, a tall, dark-skinned human known as 'Pearl'. "Pretty ripe sort of place. Good spice, though. Didn't we make a load of cred on that run?"

"It's unique," Petra said quietly, her gaze not leaving the drift of the stars, "I stayed in Atonylu when I visited...the planet itself is tidel-ocked, forever cooking on one side, forever freezing on the other...the rim of the planet is the only inhabitable zone, continually between dusk and dawn...and yes, we did make quite a bit that day."

"Didn't Pearl nearly get arrested in Kala'din during that job?" Ferres asked from next to her.

"Yeah...the reason given was that I was ugly as a rancor's ass. Twi'leks are xenophobic bastards. No offense, Tellus."

"None taken," the Twi'lek said around a mouthful of rations, "humans have it hard on Ryloth. The trouble is that you all look so damned similar to us, but without lekku or brow-crests it's like you're deformed, or like you've been mutilated. Hideous, really...hah...no offense."

"All right, I deserved that." Pearl rolled his eyes.

"I screamed when I saw my first human," Tellus added to nail the point home. "You're hard to look at."

"I'll tell you who's hard to look at..." Pearl said with a hint of playful instigation, turning toward Ferres and Petra, watching the way that their exoskeletons gleamed like long-exposed bone, "...Givin. Don't they just make your skin crawl?"

"Well Ferres maybe, the males are so much more awful than the females." Tellus agreed, walking a wide circle around the Captain and Medic. "The Captain just looks like a string-doll...it's cute if you get past the empty, sad-looking eyes."

"You know, we're sitting right here..." Ferres said dryly.

"Yep, but as long as we're talking about blaring racial faults, we'll talk about you like you're not." Pearl laughed.

"Humans are disgusting," Ferres spat the words, pale teeth shining from beneath his mouth ridge. "Fleshy and unprotected. When I have to touch you, my stomach turns. It's like putting my hands against rotten meat."

"Captain, do you concur?" Tellus asked, sitting across from the female Givin, half his size.

"Humans are humans, they don't look ugly to me. I was raised with Humans and Twi'leks and whatnot in my own settlement, so I saw them as a child. I even kept a human lover for a while," she shrugged. "Ferres, on the other hand, was raised on the home-world - they're far more xenophobic."

"There's a reason that Yag'Dhul seceded from the Galactic Rep-" Ferres stopped mid-rant as Petra interrupted.

"Enough," she said. "Be quiet and watch the planet rise."
