It was a peaceful night in Numagakure, small patches of moonlight twinkled through breaks in the canopy and the scenery was complimented by the sound of creatures moving slowly though the still waters of the swamp and insects chirping their various calls. Etsuko marched slowly across the stilted wooden catwalks that made up the military housing sector, his mind full of contemplation. "I will never understand why other people build with wood. Why not let the wood build itself. The trees will listen if you ask." he thought to himself. Reality set in at that moment, as he remembered who he was. Not all people could do the things he and his clan could do. They can't commune with the world like they could. A bird fluttered within its roost as Etsuko's foot steps woke it from its slumber. Stopping, he looked up to the bird and spoke. "Stay calm friend, I am one with you." The bird tilted its head slightly and settled down into its nest once more. With a smile Etsuko reached his destination. A small door was tucked away on the side of a small cabin which was built against a massive cypress knee. Etsuko creaked open the door and looked inside. The small room was bathed in moon light, and a thick layer of dust could be seen on the entire surface. This was the room the Ashikage had assigned to him upon his arrival in Numagakure, though Etsuko was more than happy sleeping among the cypress and willow trees. Their voices in the still nights soothed him, and reminded him of home. He stepped into the small apartment and began setting the majority of his gear down on the small table at the center of the room. All he ever used this place for was a storage container. Pulled his bow and quiver from his back and laid them out, along with his kunai knives. He reached to his side and his hand wrapped around his Yaka Twig which was tied to a sash, and for a moment he began to untie it. After second thought he left it where it was. Where it belonged; with him. Exiting the apartment, Etsuko leaped from the stilted walkway towards the nearest cypress knee. From there he made his way to the massive cypress at the center of the village. As he climbed he began thinking of his home in the forest of Ashi no Kuni. He missed it, but this was where he was needed. This was where he must stay. Eventually he found his usual perch, and laid out across the thick branch. More thoughts of home flooded his mind, and his eyes began to sink; until he felt another presence just below him. It was a presence of hostility, but one also of the same love and compassion he felt within the trees. Swiftly, he rolled from his perch and planted his feet along the side of the tree. Pumping chakra to his soles, he launched himself from the branch, and landed on one further away from the hostile presence. Turning to face the man, he squinted his eyes to see in the dim lighting. "Hey there Etsuko!" the man spoke with in a warm tone. Edited by Etsuko, Sep 6 2014, 02:07 PM.
