Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations Mr. President, esteemed delegates, Today The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has launched a surprise and deliberate attack on Republic of Korea. I believe that this is a clear violation on Armistice Agreement in 1953 as well as the international law. We ask the international community to take essential steps to punish the DPRK as they have launched the illegal attack on the Republic of Korea. Also we ask the further sanctions on the DPRK. |

![]() H.E. Mr. Motohide Yoshikawa Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations If I am not mistaken, the DPRK voided that agreement in 2010 thus there is no armistice to be broken. Furthermore, it is not completely clear which side engaged first. Until then, the ROK should refrain from turning this into a shouting match of harsh rhetoric. ![]() Sin Son-ho Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea This is unacceptable! The Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea was attacked by American Imperialist soldiers and their South Korean goons. Now those same individuals are clamoring to the United Nations to bring even more pain onto the peace-loving and free people of our country. It makes no sense to our government that anyone in the international community could believe such a weak ruse that the South was attacked and that civilians were killed. We have explained time and time again that our war is not with the civilian population of the Korean Peninsula. It is with the attack dog of the West: President Park and her followers. We would not senselessly bomb innocent people in their homes! That is pure slander. If the South and America continue their march of Imperialism against our country we will respond inside. In addition, the DPRK must once again make clear that in 2013 the armistice agreement was voided and as a result any of our just and reasonable responses to the unprovoked attack against our border soldiers will be completely legal and justified. |

Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations It doesn't matter whether North Korea has declared that armistice is void or not; They have violated the international agreement by shooting at civilian facilities and killing four innocent civilians. We should make the North to pay the price for what they have done. If there are certain level of conscience from the DPRK, apologize for it. Edited by doubleG, Apr 24 2014, 09:57 AM.

H.E. Mr. Motohide Yoshikawa Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations Perhaps before the ROK accuses the other side of anything perhaps there should be an investigation to determine who started fighting. That fact is still in question and accusations by both sides are purely speculation and propagandized. |

I would ask that an independent investigation look into the incident in order to see what caused it before any actions are taken based on contradicting claims from both sides. |

Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations Mr. President and esteemed delegates, Republic of Korea has certainty that North Korea is a main actor of this provocation. However in order to provide the credibility on our allegations, we ask the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission to conduct neutral investigation on the fight along the DMZ. Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations Mr. President and esteemed delegates, In addition to North Korea's shelling over the South Korean territory, I would like to inquire the DPRK on construction of unidentified facilities along the DMZ. Our military reconnaissance unit have observed the unidentified facilities from the entire North Korean side of DMZ. We believe those are communication jamming towers, which has been built to disrupt the communication between our bases along the DMZ. Ambassador Sin, could you provide the purpose of those facilities? |
