Prime Minister Augustin Matata Ponyo Democratic Republic of Congo Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to propose the creation of the African Energy Community. This community would see investment by the more developed members of the African Union into sustainable wind and solar energy projects across the African continent. Revenues from said investments would go towards building transmission lines, maintaining the existing energy generation capacity, and enable future expansions of Africa's largely untapped power generation potential. I believe that through such a program we can secure African energy security for decades to come, provide clean energy to the African continent, and build a new potential source of export revenues for African nations across the continent. Prime Minister Augustin Matata Ponyo Democratic Republic of Congo The Congolese government despite having similarly tight budgetary constraints as much of the rest of Africa has committed $50 Million a year to this project, if 45 other countries contribute a similar amount with more developed African countries contributing more we could increase that figure to $2.25 Billion to $3.5 Billion which would be enough to fund general operations, perhaps on a smaller budget scale over the next two years. As previously stated the advantages of collective development of green energy far out way the initial installation and operational costs of solar and wind energy. |

![]() Donald Kaberuka President of the African Development Bank. We know that African nations have tight budgets, but this idea is a good idea using a resources which we have lots of, the sun. Maybe a submssion to the African Development Bank with a proposal and outlay of the project to us and maybe we can get some funding towards the project. |
