United States Secretary of State The United States resolutely condemns the blatant act of aggression which the People's Republic of China has recently undertook in the South China Sea against the people of Taiwan and their government. This is an immense escalation of what was previously a territorial disagreement including numerous parties, and requires the attention of the United States. We would like to remind the People's Republic of China of our obligations under the Taiwan Relations Act and the Mutual Defense Treaty which we have concluded with the Republic of the Philippines. We request a speedy evacuation of the territory of Taiwan currently occupied by the People's Republic of China, and propose an immediate conference inclusive of all parties with overlapping territorial claims to the South China Sea to agree on at least a temporary solution, before the situation escalates. |

Minister Wang Yi Minister, Foreign Affairs Surely, Paris and Washington understand that Beijing is a sovereign nations and it's policies and actions will not be dictated to by a foreign nation. Mind you, all of the actions we have taken are within our territorial waters and our own sovereign soil. Whereas, nations of the United States and India have sent warships into the sovereign waters of China. We are not the aggressors here. |

United States Secretary of State This is not the internal matter of the People's Republic of China. We have stated this repeatedly, and will continue to state so. The United States will continue to act under the Taiwan Relations Act which it adheres to, and we will continue to provide Taiwan with the means to defend itself. At this point, it is the decision of Beijing on how to deal with the current situation that it has created. We have laid out the two options that it has, and if we are to understand that it has chosen the non-constructive of the two, we will modify our position and policies accordingly in the future. |

Minister Wang Yi Minister, Foreign Affairs Orders have been given for the withdrawal of PRC forces, the small contingent on the island. Of course, the disarmed forces of the province of Taiwan are being returned to their home. However, PRC forces remain in the area to ensure that no aggressive or military actions will be taken by the province to reinforce the Island of Itu Aba. However, we again reinforce the fact that this is the internal affairs of the People's Republic. |

The Indian Government condemns the blatant act of aggression by the People's Republic of China. Since the beginning, the Indian Government has spoke plainly with Beijing in private channels about our concerns regarding the maritime disputes in the South China Sea and the issue of Taiwan. We were told repeatedly by the Chinese Government that the actions that we see today would not happen. When pressed for answers on how they could possibly return to the previous status quo when the provocation have been increasing, no answer has ever been forthcoming. Recent events on the Taiwanese islands of Itu Aba have illustrated to the international community that India's concerns are justified. We have seen more and more provocation from the Chinese over maritime disputes in the South China Sea and these provocations must cease. China and India are the two most populous countries and fastest growing major economies in the world. A war in Asia would have disastrous consequences for the world economy. This manoeuvring and the claim that this is an "internal matter of the PRC Government" is not acceptable and is an excuse to somehow legitimise the PRC's aggressive behaviour towards other nations in Asia. Whilst it has not crossed into a full-blown war between China and Taiwan, the possibility of a conflict occurring, especially with the extremely aggressive actions from Beijing is worrying. This rogue behaviour cannot and will not be tolerated by New Dehli. These actions could have resulted in a war and therefore China must refrain from any acts of aggression in this scale in the future. If these actions continue, then it'll force the Indian Government to react and require further steps to ensure peace remains in the Asian continent. However, we can state clearly that China's manipulation and its attempts to scheme its way into a position where it could launch an attack on Taiwan or any other country in the South China Sea in it's expansionist plans to annex Taiwan will never succeed and will only further antagonise the security situation and may even lead to an arms race. ![]() Sergey Lavrov Minister of Foreign Affairs Russian Federation The Russian Federation commends the decision by Beijing to remove its forces from the island of Itu Aba, and we hope the international community will see this move as a positive step despite the concerning actions being demonstrated by the Peoples Republic of China in the region recently. We remain positive that our SCO partners in Beijing will be able to solve this situation without further violence. |
