Director, United Front Department of the Korean Worker's Party It is our great pleasure to invite the delegates from South Korea. Democratic People's Republic of Korea is anticipating constructive and profound meeting upon the relationship between North and South Korea. I believe that South Korea is anticipating the peace upon the Korean Peninsula, as North Korea does. Democratic People's Republic of Korea will cooperate with South Korea to settle down the peace for Korean Peninsula and Korean people. Thank you. |

The Republic of Korea hopes that this meeting can result in a de-escalation of the situation on the Korean peninsula, the re-unification of families and lay the groundwork of further talks in the future. The Republic remains committed to a stable situation with the North, and hopes that a successful agreement can be reached. |

Director, United Front Department of the Korean Worker's Party Democratic People's Republic of Korea would agree with the agendas provided by South Korea. However we're still in doubt whether South will fulfill its commitment toward the peace on Korean Peninsula. Every time we are trying to seek the peace on this place, South Korea has betrayed us miserably and cooperate with U.S. Imperialism. It is not what we wish to see. The problem between North and South Korea can be solved only between North and South Korea. No foreign powers have their places for this. Nonetheless, we believe that South Korea will fulfill their promise this time. We would like to begin our meeting with the most important issues between us. We wish to see no penetration of South Korean vessels along the NLL since we consider them as a threat on our sovereignty. And we have been very annoyed by balloons with propaganda material toward North Korea and reckless criticism on North Korea by South Korean media. We want to see them halted immediately or we cannot ensure the results of those actions. |

With all due respect, a full, lasting and permanent solution for the Korean peninsula will only be possible through renewed negotiations as part of the six party talks. After all, the UN Security Council holds significant influence in the situation. Nevertheless, it does not mean that these talks can't achieve nothing, on the contrary, all of the agenda points here should be feasible without requiring the involvement of foreign countries. The Republic of Korea's marine forces are under strict orders not to cross the Northern Limit Line. However, we must ask if this demand means that the reverse will be true, and that DPRK will once again follow the NLL, which is currently frequently crossed by North Korean fishermen and accompanying military vessels. On the other matter, the Republic of Korea does not have the control over the actions of it's civilians and it's press. |
