Deputy Prime Minister of KRG Qubad Talabani We of course thank the Australian government for all of these statements, as we see them close to our interpretation of events on the ground and your general tone when addressing the situation. We also gravely hope others in the international community will hear our plea for WMD warfare equipment for our ground forces, as the consequences of these cowardly and inhumane weapons could have devastating effects on our northern front, as well as other areas. As to the matter of increased economic cooperation, we would like to extend the Australian government a formal invitation to encourage investment in the KRG, as we soon plan to establish special economic zones for our trusted partners in the region and abroad. These zones would be of high value to manufacturers who wish to gain a foothold in the Middle East and Western Asian markets, as well as perhaps be closer to Turkey and the greater European economic zone. |

The Australian Government would happily accept the Kurdish Regional Government's invitation to encourage investment in Iraqi Kurdistan, an entity that has seen incredible economic growth and stability, and tremendous economic strength, vitality, and development in a region that has seen great instability and economic plight as conflict has racked the Middle East for decades. The streets of Erbil and Iraqi Kurdistan in general, are not paved in blood or conflict, but rather they are defined by an extraordinarily high standard of living, prosperity, and economic freedom, and it is the firm belief of the Australian Government that a crucial factor in the stability of entities and states is strong, stable economic performance. Iraqi Kurdistan is an entity that has great potential for new capital and investment, as many nations have been blessed with natural resources, and has a significant amount of new and rising industries that could be bolstered and further developed through greater investment. Australian businesses and the Australian Government views the region and Iraqi Kurdistan as a pivotal plank when it comes to foreign trade and investment, and we would be more than willing to encourage more capital flows and other investment into the KRG as well as cooperate economically through other ways as well. Deputy Prime Minister of KRG Qubad Talabani Madame Deputy Prime Minister, it has been an honour and a pleasure to have spoken with you on the future of relations between our two governments and while the situation right now in my own region is tense and we are in a war, we are confident reason and communication will win out to our future stability. We look forward to a long and committed relationship with the government of Australia, a champion of democracy and freedom around the world, and a nation that sacrificed so much to the stability of this region. We thank you. |

The people of Iraqi Kurdistan have been an ally of democracy and freedom since they've helped in the overthrow of the brutal Saddam Regime, and we recognize their decades-long plight as a people. Today, Iraqi Kurdistan stands strongly and firmly as a pillar of stability, prosperity, and democracy in a region that continues to be threatened by conflict and radical elements. The Kurdish Regional Government will always be a friend of Australia, and we are glad to have hosted you in Sydney for this conference. We wish you safe travels. Thank you. Deputy Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia |
