Marjanne de Kwaasteniet Permanent Dutch Ambassador to NATO Israel made very serious moves, I'd like to hear opinions, as possible action in Syria was being debated. We fear that a final collapse of the Assad regime, that could be ushered by an Israeli offensive could drag the whole region to the brink of war and give fertile ground to the Islamic State. We feel Israeli action are dangerous and counter-productive. |

Permanent Representative to NATO It should be a priority for all participating nations to ensure that any territory lost by the Islamic State is taken over by the Free Syrian Army, as to continue the liberation of the Syrian people. If a multi-pronged strategy of dealing with both the Assad regime and the Islamic State is adopted, along the lines of continuous Turkish proposals, we believe it would be entirely possible to avoid a power vacuum. |

As the United Kingdom sees it, the Israeli attacks has shown a few things, chief among them is that Iran is spoiling for a fight, that the Syrian air defenses are soon to become Russian air defences and that we need to handle the situation in a better way. We have become ISIS blind, even if they are on of the chief combatants in Syria, most of the effort is targetting ISIS in Iraq. It is our belief that we should try and redirect the efforts of the Peshmerga towards Syria, strengthen Iraqi National defense forces against ISIS in Iraq, and we must also reinforce and deepen our support to the most moderate parts of the Free Syrian movement. Talks of air strikes are now mote, as we do believe that Minister Lavrov is telling the truth, and that there now, or very soon will be Russian fighters maintaining the Syrian Air Defences. Hopefully, they will not be in direct close support of Assad ground troops, because that would mean a seriously difficult situation. |

Permanent Representative to NATO If Russian air defenses are to be stationed in Syria, then NATO ought to seek a no-fly-zone immediately. Otherwise it will render any possibility of moving against the Syrian regime impossible. |
