Your Excellencies, I would like to take this opportunity to reinforce Iran's commitment to peaceful nuclear development, as is our right under the current international regime governing nuclear technology. And furthermore, I would like to gauge the interest of the international community in implementing a nuclear weapons free zone in the Middle East region, to be guaranteed by the United States, Russian Federation, and European Union. On ethical, moral, and rational grounds, Iran firmly rejects the idea of nuclear weapons, which represent a severe and existential threat to humanity. As said in 2008 by Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, then Vice President and Head of Cultural Heritage Organization of Iran, Iran is not an enemy of any nation, including the United States. We wish to live in accordance with our Islamic principles, and this means in peace with our neighbors and a firm rejection of weapons of mass destruction. Hoshyar Zebari Head of KRG foreign relations council We too in the KRG, since last year passed a law forbidding the usage, transportation, or storage of WMD's in all KRG secured territory, support Iran in their hope for a nuclear free Middle East. Does this mean that Iran would be willing to listen to outside advice regarding the usage of reactors not capable of creating weapons grade plutonium and other fissile materials? |

Mr. Zebari, Thank you for your participation in this discussion. And I further applaud the KRG's effort to reduce the threat of weapons of mass destruction. It is my hope that your initiative is coordinated with the sovereign and legal government of Iraq in Baghdad in order to make your policy more meaningful and effective. In regards to your question, Iran is a nuclear state, as declared in 2010 and in the five intervening years, not one Iranian nuclear bomb has been produced. There is no evidence that Iran has or intends to have this capability. We simply have no desire or need to build a nuclear weapon. We are perfectly content living in peace as we have no strategic disagreements with any of our neighbors. Even the American's own intelligence services all agree that Iran does not intend to pursue a nuclear weapon. We only have the paranoid accusations of an illegal occupation state in Palestine as 'evidence'. So, I return the question to you, will the Zionists accept outside advice and dismantle their nuclear weapons and contribute to the region's security? I am dismayed by the lack of interest in this proposal by the United States and the European Union. Were they serious about nuclear security, they would not focus only on Iran's non-existent nuclear weapons program, but on the intentions of all states in the region. Furthermore, the West has been claiming for more than 5 years now that Iran is 'only 6 months away from a nuclear weapon'. How many six month periods must we endure until their paranoia is proved to be false? Shahzad Khoroushi Deputy Foreign Minister Islamic Republic of Iran |

![]() Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Your assessment is incorrect. The lack of interest in you “proposal” is the fact that this merely another pathetic propaganda attempt by the terrorist collaborators in Tehran, so clear that not even other Middle Eastern nations cares to address it. And perhaps the extension of your nuclear weapons program is due to the fact of numerous system failures and unexplained explosions at your facilities? Now before you care to respond, I remind you that it would be given the level of attention by the State of Israel as every other statements coming out of Tehran meaning very little. |

Ah, Mr. Lieberman comes out of his lair to verbally accost an accredited diplomat, much like Zionist warplanes come out of the middle of the night to drop bombs on Syrian and Palestinian neighborhoods. What is the death count now, Mr. Lieberman, according to international journalists? You have claimed repeatedly that our reports on civilian casualties were lies but you have been shown to be the deceiver Mr. Lieberman by international media. How many more 6-month periods are you going to wait for your imagined Iranian nuclear bomb? How many nuclear bombs does Iran possess compare to the number in your missile submarines in the Persian Gulf? The world knows you are a great deceiver, and it will only be a matter of time before the Zionist project collapses on the weight of its own hate and deception. Frank-Walter Steinmeier Foreign Minister A nuclear free Middle East implies a certain moral equivalence between the powers accused of developing nuclear weapons. We would suggest we first disarm states which vow to destroy other states. That said, we are for proposals that would comprehensively reduce the risk of the development of nuclear weapons. It is not necessary for all Islamic states to actively voice their support for this initiative. A U.N. General Assembly resolution was passed and strengthened through the collective effort of these states highlighting their commitment to this goal. We would like it noted for the record that the only action by the Zionists, the only confirmed nuclear power in the region, has been to condemn this honorable objective. Once again, the Zionists seek to obstruct the construction of peace in the region and aims to blame others for their own problems and paranoia. Until the Zionists sign the Non-Proliferation Treaty, they are not credible on this subject. Any first step on making this dream a reality must see the Zionists become productive members of the international community; first by signing the NPT and recognizing its provisions against nuclear proliferation. Sushma Swaraj Minister of Foreign Affairs Republic of India This is precisely the commitment against the proliferation of nuclear weapons that we have desired to see from Iran. India welcomes this news with open arms. A nuclear free middle east would go a long way to promoting long term peace in the region. Iran's commitment to not produce nuclear weapons should go a long way to easing the fears of the United States and Israel regarding Iran's nuclear program. I do call on Iran to follow the international standards as outlined in the non nuclear proliferation treaty that Iran has signed and ratified. Should nuclear inspectors be required we are willing to send our own, which nobody can say are biased one way or another. As a nuclear strategic partner with the United States and a nuclear power ourselves, it is our goal that the proliferation of nuclear weapons could cause harmful affects on the stability of the middle east, and we do desire a peace in the middle east. |

I appauld the positive words and sentiment of the Indian Government. Iran is committed to the absentation of producing nuclear weapons, as we find these devices to be religiously, ethically, and politically revolting to our character. We are of course prepared to continue the P5+1 negotiations provided that the U.S. assures us of their commitment and credible to the process. Between their silence on the Zionist unilateral crime of aggression against Syria as well as their threat of tearing up the Interim Geneva Agreement by reintroducing sanctions, we have a deep and profound skpeticism of American intentions. It is necessary for the U.S. and Iran to explore confidence-building measures in order to maintain the momentum gained in the last year.
